well... I can do most of the work, but I could use a little assistance in finding some of the parts I need :D (and helping hands when installing engines/trannys always a plus!) welder will be needed in this upgrade too-

heres the list of what I would like to upgrade-

EJ18 is whats in there now, I would like to move up to EJ22 (I hear its a direct bolt in? (need 90-95 EJ22) (or EJ22T?) or maybe just a NA EJ22 with a cam grind for high power @ low revs?

EA82 dual range tranny- for offroadability! (i can get the adaptor plate, I need FWD impreza axles, and some mods to the X member to mount the older tranny
and I would need a 3.9 rear imp diff)

lift kit- this will be another purchase+bolt in item... unless someone is good with cutting and welding?

Tube bumper/ some sort of metal bumpers front+rear? need bashing strength!

those who have seen the wagon at the firestone know what I am talking about

Hey, i am always ready to give ya a hand.

as for your parts. the best place to get a ej22 would be at u-pull south. from what i have heard from Fuji, they grow on trees down there. it is a direct bolt in (same with all NA EJ sereis motors, Turbo motors require a diffrent crossmember to accomadate the uppipe).i know the short blocks sell for 150, not sure bout a long block. (if you can carry it and wanna wait you could get it for $30)

the tranny, you might try subaru heaven (the phone number is on ethe boards somewhere) but they have 100s of 80's subarus. so high chances of getting a tranny there. they are in wisconsin.

could prolly get the diff at u-pull, not sure how much.

lift kit, i know very little about, i watched chux out his in. that was a different chassis though. it shouldnt be too hard.

as for the bumpers i would use some tube steel. sode he ends so you can use it as a air holding tank!

    good luck.

Just thought of something....if it comes down to it, I could sell you the D/R out of my '88...it's real high mileage, but works fine. it and the cossmember are sitting in the back of the loyale at my parents place.

Thing is, I'll still need a D/R to drop in the loyale next summer....

take it you didn't get/try the EA82 DOJ cups to work on your imp axles

I also know a guy who could fab up some bumpers for ya....if you'd like

for a really torquey combo, try a na 2.2 block, with your existing ej18 heads and intake manifold, use 2.2 injectors though. subaru motors are like legos!

chux- give me a call when you can (evenings or weekends please) about that tranny- sounds like a good plan!

and as far as the engine... I think i will just start cheap- and go with a running J/Y EJ22 complete engine- (cheap and quick to drop in)

as for bumpers.. sounds good too 8)
