i CANNOT HEAR OUT OF MY PASSENGER SIDE EAR, I'm a little scared. could this happen from dehydration? or siting to long, or from a sinus cold?:eek4: I can still hear out of my driverside ear, but I feel kinda dizy and slightly vomity:ugh: should I be scared?:eek3:
Have you had exposure to loud noises recently? Do you have any kind of sinus congestion? Does your right ear hurt like hell? Your eustachian tubes (inner ear) can get plugged with mucous and affect your hearing. If you don't have any pain, just a plugged feeling then it's most likely congestion. Take some Sudafed and you should be fine. Your inner ear controls your balance, which would explain the nausea and the dizziness. Otherwise, try a hot shower or spicy food. Anything to get your sinuses cleared. Oh, and don't scuba dive. That'll screw up your whole day permanently.
Passenger side ear?!! hahahahahahahahaha Never heard it called that before! But I've gone partially deaf when I got a really bad cold, yes.
I went through a fit of the ears plugged crap last year. Don't remeber the remedy though. I know it went from one ear to anotheror both and also came with lots of sinus pressure like my head was full of snot. I know plugging my nose and making my ears pop helped for an instant but wouln't suggest it as it left them hurting too. I see Shorten mentioned hot showers and yes that helped with the pressure too.
YES ON THE SINUS CONGESTION, NO ON THE PAIN... I'll add some curry to the thanksgiving turkey tonight! Exposure to loud noise, does screaming infant count? But that exposure was around 4:30am, so I dout that is it, should I take a multi simtum cold med? thats all they have on hand at work.
take a sinus decongestant with food that is as spicy as you can stand...and bring TONS of kleenex, i had this happen a couple months ago and a couple of spicy thai meals helped
Tell her to toss 20 'small' chili peppers into that papaya salad and call it a night (well, you'll be up all night :laugh
Lay off the Vicodin, Darvocet, OxyContin and other opiates. Heavy use of them is linked with hearing loss. huh?
I had some of that last year as well. lasted about 3 weeks going from ear to ear and back.decongestants definitely helped. I recommend spicy food, hot liquor and sex. But thats my solution to everything....
It sounds like your ear canals are plugged, this can be accompanied by pain or NOT. What ever you do, stay away from flying, you could blow an eardrum. The only was I got rid of this was with Antibiotics. Mike
Do you drink a lot of pop with aspartame? My dad used to drink Pepsi like coffee (to wake him up) and after years it caused him to get spells of dizzyness and temp loss of hearing. Ménière's disease (pronounced /me?n?j??rz/[1]) is a disorder of the inner ear that can affect hearing and balance. It is characterized by episodes of dizziness and tinnitus and progressive hearing loss, usually in one ear. It is caused by an increase in volume and pressure of the endolymph of the inner ear. Ménière's typically begins between the ages of 30 and 60 and affects men slightly more than women. Just thouhgt I would throw that one out there if your symptoms were similar. Feel better.
Honestly, go see a doctor. Minute Clinic is dirt cheap and great for taking care of things like this. If it's something small you'll be in and out in no time. If it's something bigger they'll give you the appropriate referrals. Hearing is not something to mess around with. Ears in general are a very fragile part of our bodies.
Also ears are one of the only parts of the body that never stop growing. So look foward to having big ears when you turn old and gray!
^^^^^ Except for the parts that really count. Cochlear damage at this time can not be repaired. EDIT: I've never heard that they never stop growing, so if it's true that's really cool!
It's true! I learned it in anatomy! Just look at some old people! Their ears are usually really big and hairy!
it came back about 15 minutes after I picked up my wife at her sisters. so back to normal now... Thanks ALL!!!!
