If I were going to go with an aftermarket BPV will it be louder then or am I just wasting my money if all I want is the noise??
yeah but i think hes asking about a recirculation not just a BOV...but as far as i can tell you can't really make a recirc louder
an aftermarket recirc will most likely be louder than the oem one. for instance readymix was running the TXS BPV and it was louder than stock but no where near as loud as a atmosphereic bov.
I think he is also asking about a performance increase if he purchases one, which that tutorial addresses. Cliff's for the OP, you won't gain anything except a lighter wallet.
if you want a loud bpv do a turbo inlet hose and cone filter(not suggesting it) but a bov doesn't really hurt the car. you'll just experience a little more lag between shifts and some backfiring... i had no problems with my bov besides being annoyed by it
i also noticed an sti bpv being a tad louder than my oem wrx bpv... i'm using a perrin diverter valve currently and it's noticable but it wasn't worth the money seeing as though i have a stock turbo still.
I have read the link you posted before and I know all about that. I was just going for the sound, not performance gains.
From the sounds of everyone here it's not worth the money just to try and get that sound. So I'll be staying stock. Thanks guys
I think the stock bovs hold 18-19psi or something. You don't need one until you get to that point. If you want the noise I would get the TXS recirc and do a snorkelectomy with a k and n panel filter.
Yep, I had the TXS RBV34 bypass valve. It is alot louder than stock when it lets off. It can definately be heard outside the car, but it isn't going to be extremely loud. I did like it at the time, but now that I'm not running a standard setup or an intake for that matter, I went with the RFL.
