OK so Ive noticed that lately at wot I don't seem to be pulling where I think it should be. I have an 04 Sti, 74k on the clock. I am almost due for an oil change, I had a silencer on the exhaust that blew out a gasket by the test pipe, and I just got new wheels. ( last one shouldn't effect power, but just wanted to mention it) Um, I haven't checked plugs or anything yet, just wondering what else I should check.

maybe the wheels are heavier than the previous ones.

Try resetting your ECU - IAM probably dropped

If your car is pulling timing, its probably for a good reason. Resetting your ECU is just going to make it knock some more.

Another reason to have an OpenECU training class at Grimmspeed.

+1. Resetting your ECU is probably a bad idea.

In addition to the hot air being less dense, and making less power, the car will pull timing based on intake temps (if they're high). This will lower power as well.

You can also have your IAM drop from bad gas, eventually it would go back up but it can take a while.

what about some of the basics.....

check all you IC hoses and connections. Make sure they are tight and you don't have any leaks.

previous ower have any exhaust work done, such as aftermarket up-pipe, manifold, etc...? (Yes, even though STi up is catless someone may have thrown an aftermarket pipe in there. ) check for leaks.

after market exhaust, DP, test pipe, CB. I don't know if it has a tune at all. I need to bring it in somewhere. As I said before, I had a silencer on, and blew out a gasket on the test pipe, could that have anything to do with low power?

No, any leaks after the turbo will have little effect on power. However, if you blew out a silencer:eek4: then I would check everything else that is exhaust related...for starters

leaky exhaust manifold, up-pipe...those two will cause huge loss of power.

    Any weird noises? Louder?

FYI: If you really need to run a silencer you need to check out the Apexi ATS silencer. It will open when the exhaust pressure increases (WOT). You'll get the power you need at WOT and the quiet ride at lower RPMs. You can find them for 135 plus shipping

Yeah, you would want a custom tune done on it, or at least get some loggs

Well, now it almost seems to sputter at wot, suggestions? It has been hot, but I would think that would be an accross the board drop, not just at wot.

OK, heat soak, would that happen only at wot, and it seems like more in gears 4+ it happens.

Well, just random guess's are wasting time. Log it, or get someone to log it. You could have had some bad gas (where have I heard that before?) and your DAM has been retarded and you are currently running no timing. WOT at 4+ gear would be a perfect example of some high load knocking and a good place for the ecu to pull alot of timing.
