Yes, it will look good. Prodrive springs might be a great option..even with stock wheels.
17 inch wheels will give you looks and performance since you can match them with a stiffer sidewall tire. Especially with springs
18 inch wheels will give you looks, but limited performance gains..mostly looks

bigger wheels without lowering the car will still give you a big wheel gap

lowering springs are a great idea for the RS/i. its seems that prodrive/eibach are the big hitters in the spring department. but keep your eyes open for stuff by Ground Control, and a few other companies too.

does anyone know where i can find a good price on these springs.

i'm thinking - correct me if i'm wrong - but i think that i'll drop it 1.5" to make it look better. or is 1" better.

i'll keep the stock wheels on for a while, through winter at least.

i know a friend that lowered his Scion TC and got springs for $110.
i'm looking for something like that.

    thanks.

A good quality spring is not going to be in the 100 area when it comes to the impreza line-up. Eibach and prodrives are anywhere between 220-270. Tein H-tech are good and they are under 200 i beleive. All of those will give you a 1.0-1.3 (approx) drop. S-techs from Tein will slam your car and give you the 1.5+ drop. (but I wouldn't personally advise those on a daily driver, but that's your decision.)

tein h-tech have good reviews. Ask 2.5rs for pics, he recently lowered his car, don't know what he used though.

^ i believe he used the tanabe lowering springs, i am nto sure of that though.

every single person i have talked to with prodrive springs has loved em. so i would go with those IMO. they wont be as cheap as scion parts, but hey they are PRODRIVE parts, so they are engineered for your car.

EDIT: go here and check out some of the photos for different suspenions. http://www.tein.com/subaru.html

I love my prodrives, the perfect drop for looks, still rides great.... and doesn't kill your stock struts.
