can someone sum up the install process of lowering springs for me? im trying to figure out if i can do it on my own or if i should pay for it to get done. Also what brands and models would you guys recommend? i want to be able to drive without having to worry about hitting sh!t but i want them to be noticable lower, also i dont want the ride to worsen much.....responses and opinions appreciated!! thanks
I love my prodrives, Unless it is a abnormally big curb I have had no problems, It deffinetly looks lower as well. As far as the ride quality, I don't know what it was like before the springs, I bought the car with the springs in it. My car is a my02 WRX
as long as you have a strong enough breakerbar and are somewhat mechanically inclined, its a very simple install. might take an afternoon. I have eibachs - they're good, stiffer, not too low (about 1.3 -1.5 inches lower). gives a nice ride and decent performance without being to stiff. I guess STi pink springs are nice too (more expensive). Crucial racing has some comparable springs that are supposed to be very nice.
Like Pat said.... Set of metric sockets, B.F. Breaker bar, borrow a set of spring compressors from Autozone, and a friend. Air tools would be handy-dandy but not required. Find a good set of instructions on the internet and go at it. I have STI pinks and they can be had pretty reasonable from Genuine Subaru Parts (Place where Subigal works) but they may not meet your criteria for noticable drop. I notice it but I drive the damn thing every day. Steve
springs I just installed prodrives on my factory struts on my 03 sedan 2 days ago. Not a difficult job, lots of pb blaster and a buddy make it go alot smoother.
i've had my tien s-tech for two years on my stock strut now and yes you do notice a difference in controlling the car at high speeds as opposed to the stock springs (they're so damn high)
