In a recent turn of events (aka my rear passenger Prodrive spring snapping), I'm in the market for some new springs. FastWRX has the Mach V springs pretty cheap ($199) and all I really know about them are they are a mild drop that were created to be very similar to the Prodrive Blues. I liked my Prodrive Blues, so if my prior statement is correct, then I'll probably pull the trigger on them. Anyone here running these? I'll probably get some AGXs while I'm at it since the stock struts were run on the Prodrives for about 60K miles. Good? Bad? Awesome? Horrible? Good for the money? EDIT: 2007 WRX
I was reading on nasioc about them. Someone was raving about it... I can't find the damn thread though. This was a little while ago
I've found a few threads on Nasioc about them and they all seem good. A nice, modest spring for daily driving which is exactly what I'm looking for. I'll probably pull the trigger tonight unless anyone here has any horror stories?
Better, worse, same as Mach V? They're about $150 more and they both seem to be conservative springs.
My thoughts on it are RCE is a suspension company. Thats all they do, and they are good at it. I have no person experience with owning either. I have been pretty impressed with the RCE products I have helped installed, or been in cars using(RCE T2, ect).
I have RCE blacks paired with Koni yellows. Have them on full soft, great ride. They really start to shine when pushed. No experience with Mach V.
You need upgraded struts with RCE Yellows or Blacks. Both great springs, but probably not best for your application due to their higher spring rates and lower drop. I've heard many great things about the Mach V's as well - they do have pretty soft rates and a mild drop. Should fit your bill perfectly. I almost went with the Mach V's for my DD Saabaru, but ended up getting Epic engineering springs. I love the drop but not the ride...although I blame the Excel-G struts for the ride, not the springs. Check my threads for pics on my car...they have settled a bit more and are now very even.
I do plan on getting some AGXs as well because I can only assume my stock struts on on their last leg. Being that the Mach Vs were "reverse engineered" to be like the Prodrives (which I had and liked) that's why I'm leaning towards them. Well that and the cheaper price of course.
