Well, I have two options here for the ice races. I can either bring my 2007 Magnum RWD (no, it doesn't have a Hemi) or I've been given the opportunity to take a 2001 2.5RS coupe.

Dream says: Bring the MagWag so we can pile like 20 drunks into it and take hot laps around the ice track

I think I'd have more fun driving the track in an AWD car.

    What do you guys think?

I think Lindz should drive her own car so she doesn't miss out on the ice race experience. Therefore my vote is for t3h yu0r wag0n.

Another thing to consider is that the MagWag is free gas.

Mag Wag. Reason? What if you crash or damage somebody elses car? Wouldnt that be crappy. Mag Wag = free gas and 20 people doing hot laps FTW s0n.

Fill up the MagWag with people, THEN do laps. Weight will help it go somewhere, right? haha

nope, the added inertia will far overpower what little extra traction you might get....

well having 20 people in the mag wag may lead to 20 people underwater in a magwag.

whats the scoop on the RS. last i checked you didnt have one. personally i wouldnt drive anyone elses car at the ice race (well atleast competitively) cuase i wouldnt want to break anything. i know what i have and have not broken yet on my car so i feel safe knowing what can and will break lol.

RS get my vote cause its a suby, should prolly take the magwag though.

What happens if you get in an accident on the way up there or on the way back in either of the cars? Seeing that your work is nice enough to give you a car so you dont have to use your own car I wouldnt bring the Magnum.

Does teh MagWag have traction control? That could help out a little bit...Although I forget what those have for tires. Unless you've got a set of Hakkas you can toss on, you won't get a whole lot for traction. However, RWD FTW for fun on ice...as long as you're content to just go sideways and not really anywhere in particular quickly.

+1 for the free gas part.

The RS would be fun, but the MagWag would be unique.

    No Hemi FTL :(

IIRC the magwag has some wierd brake traction control system. could be good could be bad. i agree that you wont be going anywhere fast on teh ice unless you stud up some magwag tires. RWD would be a blast (auto or 5spd?) whats company policy on breaking the new car?

Company pays for insurance and such, it's covered. It's like a leased vehicle.

Yes, it does have traction control like Martin stated. It uses a throttle control and a 4 wheel braking system to control the car...but luckily this can be turned off completely allowing me to have fun. ;)

The tires are all seasons, typical American vehicle fare.

It's an automatic, so no shifting, but it is pretty competant automatic, so it does allow me to rev it out to redline.

There is room for about 7-8 people in the MagWag. So it is a party bus, but I do agree with the MagWag + 8 people = plummeting to the bottom of a lake. My biggest worry is that, if it goes in a lake, I will be in trouble with work.

Yes, there is someone *cough* NICE *cough* enough to let me use their 2.5RS for the Ice Races. And as much fun and as unique of an experience as the MagWag would be, I'm at home in a 5MT Subaru on slippery surfaces.

I would say the mag wag or neither. If you wreck your work car, they may be apt to try and hold you accountable. If you wreck the "nice" persons car, then you will feel bad and that car doesn't need any more damage by other drivers.

I personally wouldn't drive someone else's car on a lake, especially to race it where it's bound to get f'd up.

I picked the RS for various biased reasons. You'll actually pick up speed on ice.
