Mankato IIRA Ice Races

Anyone looking for something to do this weekend?

Too bad it is close to me and I have no time to stop buy....

 

It is crazy that after one weekend we feel like it has been forever! Yay for Ice Racing! Go Mayhem!

 

No kidding. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

 

of course its when i will be up in the cities for a paintball tournament

 

only thing that scares me is that the ice isnt that thick these days AND i dont want to race in a pack. I'd rather solo

 

you need to be caged anyway. you know big boy racing

well some mnsubaru members will be . Dan came and got my gopro from me tonight. The Mayhem Racing crew will racing. I may get off my duff to go shoot some pics if I feel up to it

The IIRA is door to door racing. I don't think you would want to bring the daily driver out and get banged around in the pack. A spec studded tire, cage, 4 point, fire extinguisher, ect... are all required as well.

 

Might head down at some point.

Any chance some of us can share a ride or two or take a lap in one of your guys prepped cars? ...if there's any practice time prior to/after the races.

Marks car doesn't have a silly seat.
But, we can give rides in practice sessions in our car (Plymouth Duster) #86
We usually get an hour of practice anytime between 9-11

 

The Gopro has a suction mount. I was thinking we could mount it to the roof.

 

Bring some hand sanitizer to make a good seal without getting grease on the suction cup. We use that on glass.

I had no idea. good thing I didnt plan on this. maybe I'll just come out and watch.

 

Do you really think there is a smooth enough surface to suction cup anything to the roof? Oh, that is the best body panel on the whole car!

 

That is the only body panel that doesn't have "facets":biggrin:

 

Well the Shadancer got a few more facets today. I got hit in the passenger door by a RX7. Kevin got hit in the drivers door hard in one of the rubber to ice races.
Mark's impreza was dieing from a intake track leak sucking ice into the MAF.
We got that fixed with a little duct tape.
Brent, Kevin, and I won the non studded, rubber to ice class over all. I got my first race win in that class. The rubber to ice class was only 3 cars so not too impressive but I'll take what I can get. More updates tomorrow.

did you ever figure out the gopro? sorry, i couldnt find the usermanual for it...

 

Got it figured out. The cold killed the batteries and it would auto save after a few seconds. I'll set it up inside so it stays warm tomorrow.
