I'll definitely make it to Sunday's events, and a good chance for Saturday as well. Our family has a place in Pillager, about 20 minutes west of Brainerd. Might even try tracking the car on the road course (although, I think it will be all confused since it likes the messy stuff so much).

    Emily, we'll talk.

    1. I am just curious how you plan to keep the Time Attack honest, are you guys renting/loaning transponders?

    2. And how are you going to inspect some of these cars to make sure they don't end up hurting someone?

    3. What are the minimal safety requirements you're expecting out of these participants?

    4. Helmet requirements?

    5. Do you have any rules for a driver driving multiple cars in various classes?

    6. Will the event still go on should it rain?

    7. Will there be models to take pictures with the winner?

    8. Will spectators have access to the inside of the short track to get closer to the action?

    9. Will there be reference cones for the lapping/Time Attack sessions?

    10. Where will the exit be, at turn 8 coming into the carousel or at 10?

    11. What are the passing rules?

    12. You may want to consider posting or providing some info on flags, passing rules, going off the track guidelines, fire rescue, SAFETY?

    13. Any required safety prep prior to the event such as bleeding your brake fluids 30 days before the event?

    14. Are we racing with windows up or down?

    15. Is there unintentional drifting allowed on the track?

Sorry for all the questions, but if you could be so kind to help clarify some of my concerns I'd really appreciate it. I know there'll be a very strong support this year.

Many thanks for putting this event on once again,

    C

    1. I am just curious how you plan to keep the Time Attack honest, are you guys renting/loaning transponders?
We have decided to transition to a more track friendly high speed auto x. This will allow us to utilize equipment available to us, and experienced people to help us run this event.

    2. And how are you going to inspect some of these cars to make sure they don't end up hurting someone?
Cars will be required to go through tech.

    3. What are the minimal safety requirements you're expecting out of these participants?
All participating cars will be required to pass tech. Required helmets (see question 4), pants, and long sleeve shirt. All participants must attend the drivers meeting before going on track.

    4. Helmet requirements?
Must be DOT and Snell (M2000 or better) approved helmets.

    5. Do you have any rules for a driver driving multiple cars in various classes?
for the competition, each of the double driver will be put into opposite heats.
No double drivers for the lapping portion.

    6. Will the event still go on should it rain?
    Yes. Rain or shine.

    7. Will there be models to take pictures with the winner?
    Yes.

    8. Will spectators have access to the inside of the short track to get closer to the action?
    Yes.

    9. Will there be reference cones for the lapping/Time Attack sessions?
Yes there will be a few cones to keep cars from cutting corners.

    10. Where will the exit be, at turn 8 coming into the carousel or at 10?
We thought turn 10 would be better for track exit.

    11. What are the passing rules?
Passing is only allowed on the straights with a point by. The driver being passed will pull to the inside of the track and will be required to let off throttle. This will be brought up in the mandatory drivers meeting.

    12. You may want to consider posting or providing some info on flags, passing rules, going off the track guidelines, fire rescue, SAFETY?
This will be provided before the event (online) and will also be covered in the mandatory drivers meeting.

    13. Any required safety prep prior to the event such as bleeding your brake fluids 30 days before the event?
We will provide an online checklist. This will cover things like pads, fluids, and other basic track prep.

    14. Are we racing with windows up or down?
    Down

    15. Is there unintentional drifting allowed on the track?
If we see anyone that can’t keep their car in control they will be brought in and have a talked with. If they continue to do so we will have no choice but to remove them from the event.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions.

    1. So we're not utilizing the full 2.5 mile short track? So I assume we're going to start somewhere like at turn 3? I'm easily confused here, Super Auto-X or Open Road Course?

    A. If were utilizing the full course it might be a lot safer to exit at turn 8 allowing cars to cool down in the track and keep pit exit at 10 only for mechanical issues. aa. this will keep you on schedule. bb. it will be a lot safer for novice drivers who haven't been to BIR's new track. Alot of ppl tend to take that fast blinding turn into 10 and cut it really tight and you'll never see the guy exiting before its too late no matter how many cones you put out there. (just a few thoughts)

    2. Who's going to be marshalling the event to make sure someone like me or others isn't going to short cut the course. LOL JK
(I'd never do anything like that!) (If its an Autox you'll need corner works counting penalties cones)

    3. I'm sure you have this covered as well, who's are you using for fire and rescue services?

    4. Are passengers allowed for this part of the event?

    5. Will my insurance cover me should I wreck?

    6. Will we have a live band and fireworks this year?

    7. Are convertables and SUV's allowed to participate?

    Thanks in advance!

So one autox "run" will be a full lap of the track? If you are using the whole track, how does a high speed autox differ from time attack, other than using timing lights instead of transponders? Are you going to set up additional elements w/cones? (maybe keeping speeds down on turns 1 and 2?) Like Musashi wrote, seems like starting at Turn3 might make more sense for that type of event.

Sounds cool at any rate. I understand you are still working out the details; looking forward to more info...

at this point we are planning on two seperate events.... one being a parking lot autox, and the second being the high speed autox on the road course. my understanding is that the only difference is that the norm in high speed autox, is to start from a dead stop, where timeattack you start "flying." other thing is timeattack is usually a 5 lap round... a warm up, 3 flying, and a cool down. with high speed autox it's just 1 lap at a time.

    more info to come.

Super Auto-X if this is the case that it would rule out alot of things, passing should no longer become an issue. I'd vote for starting at turn 13 right out of pit that way we can utilize the nascar banked turn in 1 and finish at turn 10 back into the pits. This should help even the playing field as far as power vs setup. And since turn 12 is the slowest turn and is also where most ppl lost it, this will not longer be an issue as well. Just a few more thoughts, I want to make sure this is a safe event and we have not false positives leading into the event and future events to come.

    I added this question late...

So, now I am thoroughly confused... Please, go back to the drawing board and start with a clean slate press release. What is actually happening? Is there open lapping for Sat? If so, where are the prices? This has been my target to release the updated RS, with its changes for the track...maybe not.

If yes, does the fee change...for example if i do only 2 laps, do i still pay $150 OR $60?

Lastly...Does BIR have pump gas on site, 93 Octane?

on saturday it will be all open lapping. which mean you will be classed by your car and by experience. when it's your turn you will go out for 20 minutes of open lapping, and we will get each class out as many times as possible in the time available. sunday on the competition you will do timed runs of one lap. with open lapping in between or after, however we format it. the price is per day.

I will have to find out if they have a pump on site. I will let you know as soon as I have that information.

so I have to pay $150 to do lapping on Saturday. If I want to do the Super AutoX on Sunday, I have to pay an additional $150 or is that only $25?

Set a Format and pricing for EACH day. That would help since Super AutoX is shared on the road course with Open Lapping on sunday.

Is this the right format for each day???

    Saturday:
    Drag Racing: $25
    Drift: $25
    AutoX: $25
    Openg Lapping: $150

    Sunday:
    Drag Racing: $25
    Drift: $25
    Super AutoX: $25???
    Openg Lapping: $150

There are a couple of gas stations right outside the entrance to BIR that have a variety of go juice.
