Being a big contributor to the 68HTA thread posted by John@Cobb. I decided to actually see what we can get out of the 68hta on a stock 2.0L WRX. Now, when I say stock... I mean stock. No built bottom end, no porting, no crazy intake manifold, not even an AFTERMARKET intercooler. (Not yet )So, we got bored tonight. Changed the oil, tightened up some clamps, strapped her down on the dyno and went to town. Just a quick run through of the mods: -Grimmspeed Wastegate Bracket -Grimmspeed External Wastegate Up-pipe (TiAL 38MVS) -Grimmspeed High Flow Cross Pipe -Grimmspeed Electronic Boost Control Solenoid -DeatschWerks 800CC Injectors -Forced Performance 68HTA -Samco Intercooler Hose Kit -Greddy Ti-C Comp-C Turboback -Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump -TurboXS Intake -Custom Catch Can So here is the numbers: Stock VS 68HTA 68HTA Current Numbers Just in case the typing is too small. Stock - 224.95 WHP / 254.80 WTQ 68HTA - 364.47 WHP / 341.26 WTQ Now as you can see, the rumor of boost tapering off is all in the tune. We held a solid 22-24psi across the board and it had more in it! Not to mention the peak power was had at 6750RPMS! This is proof in itself that the turbo can hold its own when its put in the correct hands. It spools great, has power whenever I need it and has yet to fail me. I know your all ready for the video so let me give you some news. I'll have it for you tonight/tomorrow morning. Just need to get it off my camera and onto youtube! If you have any questions at all just ask! Just a few pictures of the car: Hopefully this will be enough to keep Forced Performance from discontinuing this turbo. I heard a rumor that they might be switching to a knew craze but I hope they still offer this turbo for the consumers looking to make some quick power! I would personally like to thank my sponsors for hooking it up and making the power happen! -Grimmspeed (www.grimmspeed.com) -Deatschwerks (www.dwinjectors.com) -Competition Clutch (www.competitionclutch.com) -RacingBrake (www.racingbrake.com Thanks again, Adam Brunson www.maperformance.com Last but not least our tuner. Without him, this is obvious that it wouldn't of happened. For him to stay after our long work hours and get some tedious tuning done is awesome. I can't thank him enough for taking this car to these numbers. Jordan, I love you!
Looks like a nice setup... What PSI where you running at BIR? Your car put down 224whp completely stock?
Nope. 224 was with a tune. Turboback. Drop in filter. Max boost with stock solenoid and wastegate. Agency power bov cranked all the way down.
I will be looking into this turbo! That is right were I want to be hp wise for next summer! What can the stock waste gate hold for psi?
I wouldn't run the supplied actuator. It will be good for 17 psi at most. Ewg from grimmspeed or nothing!
I know. They just cost so damn much! I'll have to keep my eye's open for a used one maybe. I was going to go for a bbk but I want more power now I think If in the next few months you end up going biggr lmk I'll buy your set up you have now!
Carl, You need to get at me about stuff that you need. Seeing as your going to be at my place of residence today with Dave. I think I can take care of you . Have fun, watch out for my weiner dog over there. He'll get cha!
Running a Competition Clutch Stage 4 with their flywheel. Holds great, except after a VERY hard launch. The tranny is stock and have no issues. I'm running my own secret blend and it doesn't show any signs of going south.
thanks , i wasnt finding it on your site very inspiring #s (sp) , i know where to come when i have the $ for big more power probably a great turbo for my auto....
No problem Steve! I'll see you on Monday when you pick up the filter! BTW, I think you should pick up that Black dual tip exhaust!!
Quick question for ya... Why does the EWG sound like it hesitates to open... It sounds like it flutters for a second or two then fully opens? Is that because of our UEL headers or??? Just curious
The EBCS is set for interupt. It open and closes the wastegate instead of having boost pressure on the high and low side.
hmmm ok... whats the purpose/advantage to interrupt? I apologize if this is a noob question, Just trying to educate myself because I am looking to do a very similar setup!
This is a good price. A VF34 is a few hundred more than this turbo. Plus this one will give you a few more ponies over the VF34. Not bad.
