I have noticed a small collection of tranny-like fluid (thick and yellowish) on the bottom of my tranny at the install day. I wiped it there. Recently, I changed my oil and found that it collected again at the same spot. I'm a bit worried.

A little research has found that this is a common problem with newer Subaru models. Bad axles. Has anyone have this same fluid collect at the base of their tranny, too? :?

it must be that NEW axle spline thing they changed. Supposely it's the axles that go INTO the tranny than like your old RS where the axle splines come OUT from the tranny. I dunno....

It didn't taste like pee, so it must be the tranny fluid leaking past the axles. Thanks, Fuji. And Tbone, I granny shift whenever I can just to piss you off. :p

My 6 cylinder makes 1250 lb/ft of torque.
It depends on what the repair is, if it's unrelated it might be covered.

is the boot torn? poke your finger up there and see if it's torn...I would be the master of axle problems.....

the only way you could be having axle grease leaving the joint is boot failure. if it's from the splines, it's a seal on your tranny.

I couln't find any tears in the boot. I'm sure it's under warranty. :)
