hey everyone. so im going to look at a wrx impreza tonight. its got 95xxx on it and the owner is claiming "bearing" failure. he says it runs but runs rough. like its got no power. and also said theres a bad noise on drivers side.

pretty much my quetion is any way to know or listen for bearing failure? or what should i be looking for when he says has no power? could it be valves? boost leak? let me know what you guys think and what to look for. and ill post a video tonight

its an 05 with 96xxx on it. timming cover is off and timming was checked. he said it jumped 2 teeth. battery was to dead to get it started and the jumper cables were junk. so no chance to get a video today of it running.

That sounds incredibly shady. How convenient that he couldn't get it to start and his jumper cables weren't working.

My advice to you would be to take your 6k or whatever money it is you have to spend, and spend it on a car that isn't in questionable condition. Jumping 2 timing teeth can cause some destruction. And there's no telling how much we're talking about without pulling the engine apart. You're going to end up spending about as much as you would have spent on a running car with no issues after you fix this mess.

What model are you looking for specifically? And ballpark budget?
