Mark and the Mayhem crew headed West to Idaho this week to compete in the Western regionals of the MaxAttack 2wd Rally Competition, Eastern regional is at Maine Forest Rally next weekend. Competitors need to run either Idaho or Maine, then the finals are at our Ojibwe Forest Rally at the end of August. The entries for these events are absolutely the best 2wd competitors in the Nation. To keep up with how they are doing you can go to: http://www.rallydata.com/Results/Idaho_2009_NatScoreBoard.htm (to get results) and these places to get some updates and chatter: http://www.specialstage.com/forums/showthread.php?p=314580#post314580 http://www.max-attack.com/live
Looks like Mayhem is off the pace on stage 1, like 7 minutes back! I texted Carrie to see if I can get an update, don't know if she has cell service where the service area is. Some posted that the V8 competitors will have more chance tomorrow.
Latest word is Mark had a flat on stage one, maybe 2 flats. Bummer. Waiting on stage 2 times. Hopefully only one flat, don't think he carries 2 spares.
Got word from Carrie he spun on stage 1 and got stuck. Now he has to dig for the rest of the event. Last word was he brought it a second fastest 2wd on stage 3. Don't make him angry, you won't like it when like it when he gets angry.
he has a lot of time to make up from that darn spin! i talked to brent earlier today and said that the spin cost him about 8 min.... on the rest of the stages he has been running right with the leaders!
Day 2 has begun in Idaho. Mark posted the fastest time on the first stage today, stage 6! He's climbing back up the leader board.
so as far as i can tell he has the fastest time in stages 6,7 and 8...wow guess that spin got him all riled up
Despite posting the fastest times on 3 out of 4 stages on Saturday, there was to much time to make up from Friday. Team Mayhem ended up finishing 7th in MaxAttack. Though they reportedly did demonstrate a very well done trademark burnout leaving service on Saturday, impressing the local Mayor.
Anyone know if he drove through West Yellowstone, Montana? I thought I saw his car go by on the highway, but just assumed it was one similar... (On a side note if anyone else has travel plans out here we could have a beer, I am working here for the summer.)
On the way to Idaho, we did go south on 191 on the west end of Yellowstone. We should have taken that way back home too. We did have a spin and nosed into a ditch on the first stage. We were unable to get out of said ditch for a long time. Yes Amy, I was pissed at myself. I put us in too big a hole. However, we did win 3 of 4 stages on Saturday and made a lot of westies wonder who the crazy old guys in the Mustang were. I will compose a more in depth recap later.
There's actually some good footage available of the event, was posted over on Nasioc. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1805484 There are vids of both of the days. There were some big launches off that mound, I mean jump they had. The truck was funny. Day 1: Day 2: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Max-Attack-2009-2WD-Rally_695611.htm
i like on day 2 the sentra hitting that jump! that looks like it would have been fun till the landing!
I actually talked to the driver of the sentra on the phone yesterday. he said it wasn't too bad but was just a bit rougher than their previous passes
