McRae Stages on World Rally Radio

Sorry for a really, really late heads up.

They are running a club rally in Scotland in tribute to Colin McRae and it is being broadcast live on WRC Rally Radio http://www.wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk=250

Five World Rally Champions, four British Champions, three American Champions and at least six Scottish Champions are all set to contest the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally, many historical cars such as the Mark I Ford Escorts.

From what I hear LegacyPGT is there with Gram Evans (Whiskers) and a few other CPD guys.

The Scottish accents are awesome. This is where Rally comes from.

Best quote so far, the announcer is interviewing Ari Vatinan at the end of stage 4 and says, "Ari, you get better looking every year." Ari replies, "Terrible smell here, is it bull....?" Maybe it was the accent...

 

Travis (in an Escort) is 12 sec. behind John Buffum (in a 911) after 4 stages.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying this (a party of one, I don't think anyone else is awake on here). Old and new drivers in classic old cars.

 

Where are you watching this, or is it just audio?

Now that I've rebooted and the audio is working on my laptop I'm listening.

Having a hard time deciphering some of the dialog though

 

Liked the bit about "Oh its leaking gear oil." "You don't seem too concerned!"

 

They play music between stages. Like now.

I liked the, "Are those warning lights I see on your dash?". "Yeah, I think were going too fast."

 

Stage 5 stopped due to an off, apparently its turned slippy with a bit of rain. I think they said it was Jimmy McRae, Colin's father, possible at a hairpin at the bottom of a hill, not a good combination with rain. Doesn't sound like any injuries and they are rerunning the zero car before restarting the stage.

 

It is still on! I thought I had missed it. The accents are great.

WoW! we could dream they just said that they are expecting around 50,000 spectators.

 

It sounds like they are rebroadcasting this mornings coverage now.

 

ah, that makes sense. Oh, yeah, just heard them say stage 1. okay. I best get back to cleaning and cooking and all of those wife-y duties

 

Best lines heard so far:

- "showing it to the trees" (coming close to the trees but not hitting any)
-Travis, "we broke that thing that turns the wheel" (my hero )

Don't be confused by the Euro music they play between stages. If you get a stream its still being broadcast.
