Some swear by mechanical for having the most accurate and quickest reads, but you have to run a capillary into your cab to attach to the gauge and that increases your chance of vac leaks should it break. Granted you'd notice it pretty quick when the gauge just sits at atmosphere. Electric you just need to run the sensor wire into your cab. From what I've seen they're both pretty close nowadays as long as you don't get a really really cheap electric gauge. For instance the two AutoMeters, the mechanical and electric, are both very accurate and have fast response times.

My personal preference is still mechanical. Just old-fashioned I guess?
