Picked this up a little while ago to replace the white car. Mechanically it was pretty similarly modified, and it had been taken care of.

However, being a Minnesota car, it had the usual bolts stuck together thing, etc. So far, I've upgraded or replaced the following:

-Swapped the radio with my other one to keep my aux in module
-Reinstalled the plug in in the glovebox to run a charger
-Removed stock front sway bar and end links, installed AVO bar end Kartboy end links
-Installed low mile turbo from other car
    -Installed Grimmspeed heat shield
    -Installed Venair silicone coolant hoses
    -Bedlinered the front lip
-Replaced damaged front grille with custom bedlinered one

    She's coming along.

That car is gorgeous. Did you remove the front lip to spray it? I've thought about doing the same thing. We need a photo shoot together. Well, not you and I, but our GRP legacy's.

Yep, I pulled the lip off and sanded, prepped and bedlinered it off the car, let it dry then reinstalled.

Lol about a photoshoot :) I'm down. Need a wash though.

MERRY DERPMAS XMAS CAR UPDATE FOR ALL!

Installed JDM brake lights, and started in on the two tone interior combining the black from the old car with the tan that came in this one. Grabbed the center stack, and took apart the counter consoles and combined them into this sexy thang.

    Updates.

    Went mudding:

    Much later,
Axle boot tore, up-pipe was cracked, turbo inlet was ****ed, et cetera.

Spent a few weekends ago when it was pleasant out taking care of that. Got the axle swapped one evening, spent the next day pulling the exhaust, intercooler, turbo and downpipe out to replace it. While I was in there I replaced as many hoses as I could with the Venair silicone kit from the white car, including the hose from the BPV back to the intake. That one was a pain in the dick. I also had purchased a new turbo inlet since the old one was totally effed. Got that replaced and didn't have to loosen the intake manifold. Think flexible thoughts, haha.

Last but not least I finally installed the @turkeylord (did you leave buddy?)/company 23 blue tee replacement!

Also had ordered a set of the JDM engine side covers - the power steering cooler and battery covers.

    installed:

    That's it for now.

    And so it ends.

Hail claimed it months ago. Goodbye, wagon.

So here's the deal with that. I totally would have. Unfortunately, I had a loan on the car, for more than the car was apparently worth before the damage, and definitely after. There were a few mechanical things that were starting to pop up on it, most concerning of which was a knockey sound after cold start when the engine loaded up as you let out the clutch. There were a few other things it needed as well.

Once the claim was made, I was not expecting a quote of over 6500 dollars to fix it, but every single panel on the car was dicked, like @blackozone with an erection had been dropped on the car about 4000 times. The hood, both front fenders, all 4 doors, both rear quarters, the tailgate, the windshield was cracked, and they said LOL we're not quoting a PDR on that roof, it'll be cheaper to cut it off and put a new one on.

With the loan on it, I couldn't just take the check since they make it out to the bank as well. With the damage threshold being enough to total the car, the bank wouldn't let me keep it because it's too high of a risk for them to assume being a salvage title car with 8 grand still owed. It was the perfect storm of conditions. But, I had gap insurance on it.

At the end of the day, I escaped a potentially lethal engine issue and got out from the loan for zero dollars.

Here's the other side of it. It wasn't the white one. The white one was MY ****ing car. THAT was the derpwagon. The red one was an imposter in my head. Great car, but it was a band-aid that never quite filled the same spot.

I miss the car, and would (or will) jump on the right one in a heartbeat in the future, but for right now I'm ok being a v-tacking hondabro.

"...perfect storm..." ironic choice of words

Good call on the gap insurance. That worked out remarkably well for you and with the circumstances I would have done exactly the same. I have to say that my Legacy GT has been the only car I was sad to see go...it was time for every other piece of chit I ever owned.

While it's still sad to see another once beautiful wagon ride off into the sunset, it seems like you definitely got the good end of that deal. And I hear ya about the white car. I feel like it'll be the same for me if/when something catastrophic happens to the silver one (my first).
