Does anybody play men's/bar league hockey? I haven't played since my senior year in high school and I want to get back into it now that I don't have school to worry about...but I don't really know where to look... I'm a goalie, and I know these kind of leagues are desperate for goalies (I stayed after practices to play with men's leagues since I was in Jr. High)
I'd like to get into something a little more structured. I have new skates and stick, but that's about it. I played a few pick up games at a park by my place last season, but not much. Otherwise I haven't played much since high school (forward).
And one center. Sounds like fun for me!! :naughty::naughty::naughty: I'll bring the buckets of pucks. :yumyum:
wtf! usually goalies are the hardest position to find... I guess goalies are just attracted to Subarus?
Well, I don't really have the time to organize a team...but if someone else wants to spearhead this, I'd be in too (along with 2 other goalies!)
Back when i worked with Carousel we went to the Hopkins Ice Pavilion and played hockey as a work event. You can rent ice time and play
Check out nscsports.org for the adult wild hockey league. Or check the AHA for something a little more structured and policed. I'm down to play a pick-up game whenever this winter.
I think we should all decide on a middle ground for a pick up game and maybe week it weekly. Id always be down for pick up games.
Both... Hopkins pavillion rents out the Ice anytime available for $170 an hour till 10pm and $110 after 10pm
But you have to deal with the ****ty ice and all the other little annoying people there. $170 isn't bad...hopefully we could get more than 10 people so we could actually get a little game going, it would be under $15/person! Plus, being a goalie...I still have to get in all my gear for pond hockey while everyone else can throw on some shin guards and call it a day
i know the ice on medley is great, so is wesley. they are all up in the northern suburbs. in crystal and goldenvalley i beleive, if not lake of the isles always has a good ice rink in the winter the only problem is that its crowded alot. zachery playfields in plymouth has two rink and they are usually ok. the only problem is that alot of you guys live in or near the city so i doubt you all would want to drive all the way out to plymouth and newhope area just to play some hockey for a few hours....start listing off good ice!
I'd pitch in for indoor ice. Worth every penny, IMO. Plus, it's a commitment. Means I'm far less likely to have something better to do if I've already thrown down $20 for ice time that day. Of course, it's more work to coordinate and less likely to fly if there isn't enough interest. Really sucks if you drive somewhere for an outdoor game and find the rink's all packed.
yea thats true. alright im down to pitch some cash for some ice time. anyone else? weve gotta make sure we actually have enough people to play an actual game because 'open skate' is for fags
I was off the ice for about 7 years. First time I got back on - just skates, no equipment - I feel flat on my back first step on the ice. That was the only fall, though. And in 15 minutes I was cross-stepping while turning at 80% full speed on a narrow sheet of ice. It comes back quickly.
I'd chip in for anything on the weekends. My travel schedule for work pretty much eats up weeknights.
Somebody could check into it but I've played at the brooklyn park community center. The facilities are really nice and I don't think the price was too much. I wanna say $120 but that sounds way to cheap. $10 per person for two teams and I assume someone was pocketing some $$
I have not played since high school and dont have any equipment anymore. Just skates and a stick for pond hockey games. But I can play an position besides goalie.
