Anybody had this before drove my 02 wrx going home and had a metal rattling noise only when rolling not at idle seems to be coming from passenger front. Maybe up pipe heat shield rattling? Noise was not there in the morning or during lunch. Any thoughts appreciated.

Dust shield behind the rotor maybe? Usually a scraping sound rather than a rattle. Maybe it rusted off and is just flopping around.

Could be any number of rusty parts getting ready to vacate the premises. It's a Subaru in Minnesota.

Yeah, thought that too but it's weird that I didn't hear it in the morning and only heard it on my drive home.

Heat shields rattle only in specific conditions when they can oscillate.

I'm sure there's a reason they are there, but by the time I get a car, they just make noise. Mine all go in the scrap pile.
