    Not to say his story is fishy, but:

    Uh, dude? You're already in El Paso. You don't need to cross the border to have a Mexican breakfast.

    Sorry, but if you cross the border into the US with undeclared guns, you're going to be in jail for a while too.
    (It also doesn't say where he made the u-turn, but I suspect it was after the checkpoint)
    Also, its really, really hard to accidently cross into Mexico in El Paso. There's big signs and you have to cross the only bridges in the area and there's legal places to turn around before you get across the border.

    No fooling. It's not as if you're driving along, finally notice that all the signs are in Spanish, and think aloud, "What the...? When did we cross the border?!?" The guy is either lying through his teeth, wasn't paying any bit of attention to his surroundings (scary thought considering he recently returned from Iraq), or is dumber than a stump.
