I read through that before i asked the question. My question is within this statement. "The cost is $55 per event day per driver. Please mark which dates you are paying for in the "Memo" space of your check. Your 2005 membership dues ($30 per member) must be current in order to run. " SO IS IT $55 OR $85 !!!!!????!!!!???
Justin, I am looking into it, I know Bill, I will let everyone know what I find out. I know in the past they didnt require membership to run in their events. Cheech
UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Bill Groschen, and I am sorry I did not know this but the Vintage Club does not use the inner course, but he is willing to work with me on this topic. He said that they now require everyone to be a member for insurance reasons. He will extend any new membership for a whole year if you sign up for this event. I tell ya, what happened to the good old days, I really miss it. My appoligize guys and gals. Come if you can, I will keep working with Bill about getting some activity on the inner course. You can expect to be running with a bunch of older cars from this club. But dont be surprised if they pass you on the straights. LOL Fee: per event: $55 one year membership: $30 Total for this event: $85 I'll see ya at the events! Cheech
I'll be there. Checks in the mail. I won't be too disappointed if the inside track won't be run, I'll be humble enough after having cars older than I am school me.
lue said something about judges? what are they there for? do we seriously have to get insurance?...i mean we can't pass each other anyway...and i don't think the person following would want to stay really close to the other person's rear end..
i dont think we have to get insurance. i think the club as insurance for its members, therefore, you need to be a member to be covered. kapeesh
ahhhhhh i reallie wanna come!!! and get more experirence in that kind of driving...but eh....>_< but what are the judges for? my car itself doesn't have insurance...but...hummmmm what are the benefits of being a member? member of what?
I would throw out any idea that this is a "touge" experience. If you and your buddy are going to try to tsuchiya eachother and ignore blue flags you are going to get kicked off the course. There are no "judges". This is a shared event with the vintage guys, who are letting us BORROW their track time. Disrespect or clown around with anyone on the track, and you will be kicked out. They are not timing this event, use the instuctors, and have fun. And yes, you have to be a member of the vintage club to run. It is a gigantic liability for these guys, especially with the amount of rollovers that they have had as of late.
Noobs you guys really need to get out more.....LOL There are NO judges, I was basically trying to draw in more drivers. Insurance: Their Insurance refuse's to cover anyone that is NOT a member of the club. There for become a member if you plan on participating in any kind of events. 2nd: This is not a training event. But it is a open track event, which means you can always get with some other experienced drivers and learn a few things. 3rd: If your looking for some training, why not come to one of the BMW training events. I would be happy to work with anyone as well as any of the other instructors from the club. 4th: Touge Experience-Its never going to be like what you see on TV, but what can I say, at every event I go to, I play it the same way, always trying to see if I can catch up with the car in front. And 5th: I look pretty silly now. But I tried, I would like to see more people at more car events, even if you dont come out to drive at the events. I dont mind giving rides when I can. Sorry and Thanks Cheecher
We are missing out on the fact that when everybody is cool and respectful, the event is an absolute blast.
eh...what about stock and modded cars? if stock vs mod we'll get rape! stupid lue bringing up that judge crap... the insurance is a 1 time cover for that event right?
Cars do not matter. Its drivers. Some douchbag hack n00b in a ZO6 can still get passed by a Civic. Stock/Modded cars have nothing to do with this event, If you are a faster/experienced driver you run in group A, if you are a novice, group B.
hummm...okay if i don't do autoX this Oct 2nd then i'll come, hopefully my tires will be good still...and i dunno if i got this tutor job...
8) So let us know how it goes guys - I wish I could be there too, but I've had to stretch just to make Brainerd, so won't get to run with the vintage club this year. Bill is an incredibly experienced driver and an all around cool guy - I hope to run with these guys next year, but I have to take what I can get for now Be safe and have fun!!
Sorry I will not be going, I am only interested in running the inner course. I will be busy working on getting my car ready for BIR for next week. Enjoy and bring back some pictures.
that was awesome. Ohlins suspension has to be fabricated by jesus himself, my car was totally neutral. I decided that I didn't want my passenger mirror anymore. here was my run group. heh.
Sorry I didn't stay longer. My front pads are no more, when we broke for lunch I came to the first stop and cruuuuunch, well, more cruuuuunch then normal. It was awesome watching you hunt down all those 'fast' cars for the first run of the second half. Formula Fords and race prepped 'Vettes have nothing on Subaru. Mushashi, I'm beginning to think you don't exist. It's like this hater is calling everyone out, then not showing up, what's up with that? :? Have fun at Brainerd.
Beej- Thanks for sharing the awsome pictures! Johnny, don hate me just yet. LOL I have been trying to get this Instructing thing alot of focus. I have been going to just about all the Northstar BMW club events. I still need more training. We will meet one day my friend and we will see who has been doing their homework. JK I will catch you guys sooner or later at one of these events. Cheech
It was great meeting you. Thanks for the heads-up on the wilwoods. In the afternoon session I really did turn up the juice and went all out. I would have knocked the mirror off another 2-3 times if it wasn't already. Car ran mint. Lovin it. Thanks for hanging with me, john!
