The dates for the MAC Novice Autocross schools have been released. These courses are designed for those with no to very little autocross experience and are a great way to give our humble little sport a try. You will get TONS of seat time, with instructors during the driving portion of the event, and if you are even a little interested in trying out autocross I highly recommend giving this a try. Registration will open 60 day prior to the event. I'll try to remember to update this with info before registration opens. The 2015 MAC Novice Schools will be offered as follows: Novice School #1 Saturday, April 18th - Classroom session at Dunwoody College, Minneapolis Sunday, April 19th - Driving session at Dakota County Technical College, Rosemount Novice School #2 Saturday, June 13th - Classroom session at Dunwoody College, Minneapolis Sunday, June 14th - Driving session at Minnesota State Fairgrounds Hopefully we will have the regular 2015 dates available soon. It's never too early to start thinking about driving fast...
Only one. The class is designed for first timers or those that may have only attended an event or two the season before. These usually sell out very fast and the club likes to reserve the spots for first timers. I think the class is around $60.00 but I am not sure. I'll try to keep this post updated as I receive more info.
These classes aren't just about the driving, but also the fundamentals of how an autocross runs so you can be comfortable the first time you show up to a regular event and know to start getting teched, checked in, course walk, etc.. If you need more learnin' after you've completed the novice school, there's other options such as SoloPro or Evolution driving schools, as well as one-on-one instruction from some of the faster drivers offering such services at MAC Practice Autocrosses.
Registration is open! These events usually fill fast, so don't procrastinate. http://www.motorsportreg.com/events...e-of-technology-minnesota-415919#.VOo7FfnF-Sp
The one at the fair grounds is this on tarmac or gravel? I know it says autox but have never seen a tarmac course at the fairgrounds the couple times I've been there.
I've outlined the area we'll be using at the fairgrounds: it's my understanding the club has more or less free reign over the highlighted area. Some of it is covered in dirt, but that may still be useable as paddock, etc.. There's still a significantly large piece of tarmac there that's basically obstruction free.
Wife and I will try to make it in April. Would like to attend more autox events this year! Thanks for the info.
We have 51 entries at this point. Class limit is 60. Still a month away and almost full! Don't delay if you want to get a bunch of seat time, and a little instruction.
There are only 3 spots available for our Spring event! sign up now or you'll have to wait until Fall.
If you miss out on those 3 spots.. You'd have to wait until June if you wanted to attend a novice school: http://www.motorsportreg.com/events...-technology-driver-school-689649#.VQceTdVVhBc
AAaannd it's full. Hope everyone who wanted to enter got in, otherwise, the sign ups for the april date will start in about a month.
