In order to protect MNSubaru members, I suggest a minimum post count (25 or so) to be able to start threads in the for sale section.

Not sure i agree. What happens when there is someone trying to sell a car that isnt a memeber that is just trying to thier car out there, for more subaru lovers to see. Also its not like people with just 1 or 2 posts are really flooding the for sale section with a bunch of crap.

Have many mnsubaru members actually gotten screwed over by newcomers? Sometimes this is how people find out about sites like this, when they want to sell something and research the internet for places to sell them. Sometimes they'll stick with the forum, sometimes not... But what is it really hurting?

My logic behind it is eliminating the folks that have never posted before, post an item for sale, then are never seen again. That's what Craigslist is for.

If we are going to be more of a club, then I think the privilege of selling stuff through the forum here should be earned. A small minimum post count is not too much to ask for that to keep out the riff-raff. It just helps to show and gauge interest in being a part of our little community here.

So far it hasn't been a huge problem. But I know what thread you're referring to (Subaru Flag for sale currently in FS section for example). We've handled it on a case by case basis so far. I think if we set the minimum post count even to 5 or 10, that would weed out most of the spammers.

I see this as a different issue, these are comercial posts that need to be regulated by the Mods. This could be an issue however you need to regulate these in a consistant and fair way.

Good spammers will find a way around this in a hurry. If we have someone with legitimate product for sale that club members value it should go up no mater how active they have been.

The problem is when we get stuff that doesn't fit the purpose of the forum ie Subie stuff, this is why I don't post our companies products for sale on the site.

I could live with it either way just wondering if we've had problems in the past.

just use PM instead of listing an email address maybe? that way it stays through here and they can't get your email to spam you and stuff.

I think the community will pretty much filter the fishy ads. plus the hassle of registering and being confirmed it is already a good threshold.

I am all for a post amount requirement to post in the fs board. Now, here's where I do differ.. If we make a FS and a WTB section, I feel the wtb should be 0 post requirements strickly on the fact that if someone who's new is looking to buy a subaru, that would be a perfect section for them to post in.

Well, I can tell you that I have been screwed over and flat out stolen from established members and vendors way more times than a new person. As a matter of fact, I have never purchased anything from someone new. I have been screwed buy very well know vendors and members, and thats why I chose to deal with them. So having a certain "post count" to see/post/view the FS/WTB areas is useless. It unfortunately will always be buyer beware, and there really isn't anything anyone or the club can do about it.
