I know with some cars, it is possible to mix and match body panels. I am curious if it is possible to do that with the WRX?
hmmm... i am nto sure about how intercahngeable these pars are. i know that the tailights are lightly differenton the newer 04+ wrxs then the bug eyes. they have that little cirlce thing. so i am not sure if the rear bumpers are a different shape to accomdate this or not. same thing goes for the frotn end. i know that the WRXs got a redesigned front end inbetween 03 and 04. so although they look very similar i am not sure if the parts will actually bolt up. i am pretty sure though that the hoods are not interchangeable. since the headlights are different shapes. although i am not 100% it s a pretty solid guess. i know for sure that the trunks are interchangeable. we did a trunk swap one night down at firestoen between an 06 STi and a bugeye wrx. the one thing i can say with 100% certanty is that all the parts for the older imprezas 93-01 are interchangeable ;-) and hey you can even use some legacy and forester parts on em too.
if you change EVERYTHING you can change the front end on any GD based impreza to any other GD based impreza. I've seen one personally, it was an 02-03 converted to the 04-05... the fitment was rough on that one, but it was probably just the body shop that did it... as there was still TAPE on it... but the only thing that gave it away was that stupid little antenna you 02-03 guys have to raise manualy. he even had the rear bumper/tail lights changed. the completeness was rather impressive really.
It's a thought right now however changing out the entire front end, body panels, grill lights, all of it. It would end up being a front clip-swap. I was just curious if the body lines matched up or not. I ask because I'm doing it right now on the Nissan I have and wondered if it was possible on my Scuby.
yup.. they all line up. for the most part, the 04-05s were just a quck patch to solve the screw up that was the 02-03 bug eyes (sorry bug eye lovers... they didn't sell worth a **** in japan). the 06 was the big design they really intended.
IIRC some guy took a GD and put the front end off a GC on it, it looked fugly but it had a turbo H6 in it.
