I'm technically savvy but I just want to know if anyone has any clues for me before I dive into this thing. I keep getting CELs for cylinder 1-4 misfires every so often. It all started after I removed my resonator from my intake. Also, there is a lightened flywheel on the car, which I'm told throws misfire codes. Anyone have any tips before I start going through my engine?

How light is the flywheel and what car model is it?

02 WRX with an 11lb flywheel (I think it's that light). I'm pretty sure it's my knock sensors complaining about the flywheel, but I just wanted some additional input...

IIRC it'd be your crank position sensors that have an issue with the flywheel, not the knock sensor. Are you running lightened pulleys as well?

Just a lightened crank pulley. At this point I'm sold on the fact that my car doesn't like the lightened parts. Is there a way I could possibly use EcuFlash or Enginuity to re-calibrate the sensor tolerances?

I would say have everything installed at the same time then have it tuned. Its alot safer that way.

I think I asked a similar Q a year ago on clubwrx...on the 02' (and probably a couple other models as well), there is not a sensor for the flywheel itself, it sees the fast drop in rpms as a misfire. So I am told.
In later models (or was it STI's) there is a separate sensor, so that CEL is not supposed to happen.

In other words, you probably would just have to live with it.
