I had storms from MN at 10pm saturday night, through noon on sunday.

These are from my way through nebraska when it calmed down enough to use a camera without dying.

Colorado, which is quite possibly one of the most beautiful states in the US. I always forget how much I like the denver area.

dealing with heatsoak the old fashion way

it was except when you know you're only headed to the desert. lol

I cant believe no one commented on the genius of the ice on the intercooler. The people at that gas station could not figure out why I was pouring ice on my engine.

I thought I was heatsoaking. Then I realized how tired I must be (was up around 35 hours at this point) so I slept. I didnt even think that the 6,000 ft I was at could have effected it somehow...

Looks like a fun road trip.

I'm pretty sure anything to help with heatsoak is going to be better than nothing.

I lived there, you don't want to retire in summit county itself. toooooo many tourists and way too expensive. south of breckenridge about 30 miles is where it's at!:)

The ice helps for heatsoak, but I was being a complete idiot (because i was on an hour of sleep over 48 hours at this point) and I couldnt figure out why i had no power.

I was looking for boost leaks and then thought maybe its heatsoak.

little did i think about the fact I had a 5-6000 foot difference in elevation.

    lol

thanks for the compliments on the pictures!

My understanding is that heatsoak is a stop-n-go traffic phenomena. As long as you're moving at speed you shouldn't have issues.

I've only seen ice bags on dyno days with fans.

    I understand that.

Ive commented several times that it was never the source of the problem, and that i was an idiot for thinking so. I was tired, and was just hitting all the power problem "bird" with every stone I could think of.

    Ice does help heatsoak.

And it is not a stop-n-go traffic phenomena. Heatsoak will set in under hard driving depending on the size of your intercooler and the setup you have. You can also get heatsoak in very hot climates, where the air simply doesnt have the cooling potential. You can ALSO get heatsoak if your intercooler CLOGS with snow or mud that stops airflow from passing over the fins, stopping the distribution of the heat stopped up in the intercooler.

Heatsoak can easily be gotten in stop-n-go, but if you're simply idling up to the next car, you will never spool, and wont ever even feel the onset of it.

the STi's have that nice IC sprayer which probably helps that out a lot....at least I would hope so. Even though the water can probably get hot in the trunk tank.

you can easily get it in stop N go, but would make it no phenomena...a phenomena being that it happens rarely...

    haha, anyhow.

The ice was pointless in my application.
