I now have facebook connect working with MNSubaru. Basically right now it just links your facebook account to MNSubaru. After a bit more testing and another site update, you will be able to publish notifications to your wall for new threads, posts, blog entries, etc.

As I get more of the options working, I will add the updates to this thread.

Because it is a passing fad that is ruining the internet by dumbing it down for the lowest common denominator. The last thing this world needs is a class teaching people how to use it as a profession.

You must have been in my class...seriously, that was the first answer my classmate said - It's a "Fad"...it will die slowly like Myspace. But then again, on a marketing perspective most companies are using it for marketing research data on consumers.

It's not a fad. I loathe it as much as the next guy, but the integration you're seeing isn't going away. Facebook may not be around forever, but whoever replaces it will still use the same service oriented concepts as we're seeing now. MySpace died because it was just MySpace. Facebook is reaching out and creating a vast, terrifying fabric that is much more difficult to kill with fire.

Everyone hates it yet uses it? Facebook has so many options for you like and dislike things, If you dont like what your seeing with facebook dont encourage it by signing up. And if you use it and still bitch then ignore the things that piss you off.

As the forum continues to grow and expand, these options will open up. VB is working on a couple of different login/registration options for future releases (OAuth, Google, Twitter, etc). And as of now, it is really just a quick way to go back and forth between facebook and MNS. As the VB updates roll out MNS will be able to use facebook to get new members and promote events. Again, you don't need a facebook account, or have to tie it to the site.

I will NOT add the "like" buttons to anything on the form, so you don't have to worry about that. This integration is just for connecting the site with the 120+ mnsubaru facebook people.

I am one of the contacts for our page. Currently facebook will be shutting it down (or was shut down), due to the old format. So we lost everyone in the group.

I did create a page a while ago when they started letting us know they were shutting it down.

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/MNSubarucom/208750599161797

So we can start fresh with that page. As soon as we get some followers, I can add some admins and mods to the page to allow updates and changes.

So basically, since we lost all the follows to the old group, we can try and restore all the old stuff or just move forward with the new page. Either way, we have to get people involved with the pages for them to become valuable. We can also do the same thing with google+, I would just need to create the page and we can go from there.

I am with you. The only reason I even have an account is to get the developer keys to link the site to facebook. If I could have got the keys without getting a account and haveing 10 friends (yes, they make you have friends first), I would never be on facebook.

I guess we can promote the new page as the location as to where to get site info (and we can do the same on G+), and as we get more friends/users, we will add mods/admins as needed.
