I'm thinking about getting some work done and was wondering what's the best shop to go to. I'm looking at a meth kit from Alkycontrol along with injectors and fuel pump etc. I've heard good things about RS Motors. Is there any other shops anyone would recommend?
We can easily handle the install on those items. What injectors and fuel pump are you going with? We sell those items as well.
Not sure. Probably Warlboro 255 and 800-850 injectors. I'd do the pump myself but might as well do it all at once. Do you tune Xede? How long has your company been in business?
^^^bump!!! Another advocate for bikerboy... Very reasonable prices! Plus he gets everything done in a very timely fashion!
I haven't messed with the xede software but I have yet to have problems tuning anything that has all the electrical and mechanical systems in good working order. We have been a company since 2003, open to the public since 2005.
This winter/spring I'll need some help dialing in my Legacy. Link Plus G2 w/ wideband/EGT. It'll already be fleshed out in the 11.0-11.5 range where any load is concerned. I'll just need to get it broken in and a DCCD controller so I can put it on a dyno.
So the afr's under load have been dialed in but the motor isn't broken in? DCCD controller? Not familiar with that term. Either way, it is something we can take care of on the dyno.
LegacyPGT (Mike Wray) FTW! he's extremely helpful, and he SERIOUSLY KNOWS HIS ****. Good prices too, Very reasonable shop rate.
Sweet thanks. I thought it was for the center diff, just couldn't think of the acronym. Just out of curiosity, this thread was titled mod "shop" not mod "buddy", does everyone in this community just go to each others garages?
Subarus are very different from other cars. They take a long time to know the in's and out's of the car. There are a few very compitent people on this site who know the car in and out. With that said we use our national and local resources for our information. Alote of people like to do stuff on their cars and that is great we just want them to do it right. You need to have the right choice on parts to get the best from a subi. Alote of people come to my shop because we can guide them into the known proven power makers. Not the engine destroying things like emanage.
As to the mod 'shops' VS. mod 'buddies'. Most of us don't have money tree's. So we need to go to the guys like Matt, Mike and Nathan(even though he does own a shop!). They know just as much and in most cases, more than other general tuner shops. Plus they charge at most, half of what other shops charge. Not to say we don't need you guys around, ie dyno tuning. But, for the money and service. Our local guys are hard to beat for installing part. I do feel sorry for you shop guys who come here looking for customers. Cause you just can't beat the local fella's rates when it comes to having work done.
thanks.. but I stick to exhaust, alignments, tire m&b and brakes...ha ha ha I really dont know a lot of more in depth stuff like rebuilds, transmissions, tuning etc... ha hah a
I really can't say enough good things about Matt (Bikerboy). So far on my car he's done: *Cusco twin plate clutch *Coilovers *Complete power package including a semi-prototype turbo (he still had to do some custom fiting), the right plugs (harder than it sounds), TMIC, +misc other Matt-Magic-Touches and helping get it tuned and sorted *Rotors (twice) *Engine and tranny mounts *Helping me sort out problems over the phone while at RA. Calling Jorge and emailing me a new map so I could still run my car for the rest of the weekend *And general track prep, fluids... Soon: *Tranny, so I can shift in to 4th again Top notch all the way. He is more than reasonable in terms of price. JT
I was just curious. Some communities have contributing members/wrenchers, some people don't. I am totally fine having local guys do install. There are local experts, sweet...means we only have to concentrate on the "hard" stuff. (engines, part development, parts sales, tuning).
I totally agree with this. The local shops really cant compete with the guys (Matt, Mike W, Ben & Brian, Russ, Tom) when it comes to price and anything you need from complete engine builds to tuning your ECU with any software, really. It is nice to have more than 1 awd dyno in town though
Bikerboy, Do you have a business name or shop name, or do you just do the work out of your own garage, just curious who the shops are on MNSUBARU that know the STi best. I will be taking delivery on a new 2007 STi Limited (trading in my 2nd 2005 EVO that I have owned). Thanks!
