last night as we're getting ready to go out, me, my girl and some friends are pre-gaming at my house, then we hear BOOM! sounded like the loudest shotgun ive ever heard. brushed it off as fireworks, then 5 minutes later the ambulance comes. we walk down the street, and low and behold, theres a guy laying on the sidewalk in a puddle of blood. if i had any doubts before about moving, those are loooong gone.*in a sarcastic voice* i love this city. chicago rules.

That sucks man! I used to fall asleep to "fireworks:roll:" every night in Waukegan. I made it in Chi-town for 11 months out of my 12 month lease.

    Great place to visit though.

Chicago to Orr is a substantial transition!

After my 3rd month of living in Chicago I stopped watching the local news...the first 5-10 minutes were always about that day's murders...

    :eek3:I'd say! Lol.

I visited the southside once. When I came back out to my car, there were two holes in the windshield.

I'm also very happy to have moved from Chi-town. I lived in the nice burbs but still saw some pretty stupid stuff. Once a deer died in my neighbors yard, it had been shot in the head by a handgun :eek3:

well, it looks like your guy's responses, im making the right choice by this move.

also, i heard when we we're out today there was a retaliation shooting ,but the idiots missed. this was about 60 feet from my house.

incase you guys might be wondering, i live in humboldt park. i know, we made a mistake by moving here.

Lol! Yeah, I thought it would be pretty mellow on the northside by Gurnee...who'd of thought!?

I did like living that close to Six Flags though! Six Flags>Valley fair.

The Twin Cities are pretty chill for the most part. But you CAN get yourself into some trouble in a few areas of town. After living in a few different cities around the midwest, I can honestly say that these are the nicest/most calm cities that I've had the pleasure of living in.

Besides the fact that there are wheel-bending potholes every 20 feet in the Chicago area.

    ^also that!

I used to commute to Libertyville(8-10 miles) to drop off the woman every day. It would take us an hour and 15 minutes to get her there. It would take me about 10 minutes to get back home. ghey.

Rush hour here is nothing by comparison.

Just don't get a place in North Minneapolis(northwest is bad right now) or some parts of st paul, and you won't hear the "fireworks"

And it's cheaper to get an apartment in the suburbs, from my experience.

that is intense. there are areas like that around here..but I don't think quite as bad. where you are sounds like a direct comparison to the heart of north Minneapolis. you need to get the hell out of there asap it sounds like. you actually saw the guy laying there in the pool of blood?

    wow

Orr, that's awesome! I was up there last summer at the bear sanctuary. I also camped by the lake.

but anyway, yeah Chicago is not that attractive, has became another LA.

But I am sure that guy was involved in some shady biz.

Tony, you have no idea how jealous I am that you are moving to MN.

I cant WAIT to get home for good! I love what I'm doing, but having grown up in MN my whole life (aside from a few months here and there) I miss it so much...

I plan on grabbing a place when I get back and having suby meets, and just a random chill stall at my house for people to come work on cars whenever.

Make sure to take pics of your new place when you get there and tell us all about it!

Seriously? Dude, get out of there now.

Welcome in advance. And as others have said, stay out of North Minneapolis and you'll be okay. Have you been thinking/looking at specific areas?

chicago just sucks more to live in. ive visited a couple times and stayed away from the problem areas and the now well lit areas at night. Millenium Park is amazing and all of the sights to see are worth the trip

yeah, we all saw the guy laying there. my girlfriend (who grew up in new brighton) has never seen anything like this, so she kind of lost it.
not sure about p&l, top set up is kind of a cool honda shop, DS1 guys are cool and they'll give you a shop tour.
yeah man, i ust cant wait, things like this make me want to get out, i'll definatly be updating everyone where i go, and having some sort of bbq at my house and everyone is invited.
we're looking at st.louis park. i like that lake calhoun area. ive seen tons of pictures of the area and i love it.
just stay east of western ave. and you have nothing to worry about.

i know, i heard about plymouth, made me excited. I'll for sure be at the meets, im pretty active with NASIOC and a couple of civic forums down here. we're moving up on the first of october, only 6 weeks from now, i cant wait, im so sick of it here. everytime i go fill up, makes me wish i was there already. paid $4.59 this morning before work. it was enough to ruin my morning.

Navy Pier, you can go to the Billy goat tavern. Monks Pub is a place that not alot of tourists go(so ya feel local). north side (wrigleyville) is packed with stores bars and people.Michigan Ave is a cool place to go. Just dont ask for ketchup if you go get a hotdog, some places will throw you out! lol. when are you going to be in the area? Theres always shows going on. alot of bands come through.
Sanrio is on Michigan ave. not too positive on the exact addy. I can ask my girl, she'll know. I'll put up the address later tonight.
