Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone could help me and my 2005 Subaru legacy gt. My motor has a horrible knock and needs to be replaced or rebuilt. Any ideas on where I can get a replacement motor or sutible substitute?

Probably best to rebuild unless there is extensive damage.

Thank you for your advice. I believe my mechanic buddy at inver grove ford said that I pushed a rod through.

Short blocks are ~$1800 from subaru but you can probably get a short block for cheaper used (may need to be rebuilt).

As in a rod shot through the block? There's not much left in the shortblock to rebuild at that point. I'd spend your effort/money on getting a clear diagnosis of what's going on and the extent of the damage before anything else.
