Send her to Poquet Autos in GV. High-end, late model cars can be had relatively cheap these days. Just picked a '06 A6 Avant with 39k for <43% of original sticker with 60k of extended warranty left. Hellaballahy0!

Then again, probably got it cheap because it lacked mods and a fresh bucket wash.

Poquet's cars are usually auction cars. They call me @ Lexus for stupid things like Shift Knobs (retail for over $400 if there's wood on it, auction workers steal them and put them on Ebay) and floor mats.

Good cars still tho. They usually stand behind their stuff too.

My last encounter at Motorwerks was not good. They offered my buddy $1,700 for his 98 528i sport with only 70,000mi on it. He ended up selling it in 2 days for $6,500. Oh and that was a trade in on a brand new JCW Mini worth $32,000.

poquet is very close to my house - they always have a nice selection of decent cars out on the lot (some are second or third cleanest in the state). plus the road they are on is good for d0rift0

Yeah, Already looked at poquet. They don't have what she's looking for.

She wants a Mini Cooper type-s. We're going to go test drive them. I'm going to try to push her into a '07 or newer just for the turbo + direct injection. They also did some styling changes on the '07 which I like more.. but it's not my car. I just have a large influence over it.

We're not sticking just to motorwerks, but she does want to test drive a newer cooper ('07+) vs the supercharged cooper (pre '07) to see the differences. Thanks for the name of people to ask for. I'll ask for Leo. We're going saturday morning.

As for trade ins, this will be a 2nd car for her. Spring/summer/fall only. She's got a jeep for the winter.

As for others saying they aren't fast/etc. She's got a few requirements for her new car that she is looking at. I'm open for other ideas of things to test drive, but she's got her heart pretty well set already.

    Requirements:
-"4" seater. Sorry no 2 seaters.
-Sporty, or at least sporty looking
-Not too flashy. Because of her line of work she doesn't want to look like a rich ******* or anything. No bmw/merc/audi. I know a mini is just a bmw wrapped in a different body, but a mini is a lot cheaper then a bmw. Let's not dwell on this please.
-She's looking for something newer. '00+ with <~30k miles or so.
-No she will not look at an impreza. She told me she didn't want to be copying me and my wife who both have impreza's.
-It's nice weather only car so awd doesn't matter to her.
-She's not very interested in convertables. Don't ask. :dunno:
-Gas mileage is something she's interested in. She wants something that gets better mileage then her jeep (around 17mpg).
-She's very interested in getting a manual just because this will be her fun car. Score for me when I steal it to go joy riding.

With that said I already talked her out of the prius (thank god). So if you have a well thought out idea of a car we should test drive I'm all for looking at other things. Oh, to give you an idea of her style.. her all time favorite car is a 1970 Datsun 280z.

Well I am a big fan of the Mini's. My buddy had an 05 Cooper, and he is looking at getting either a brand new JCW or an 06 GP. They may not be as fast as a WRX but the handle like a Go-Kart of the floor. The new S's get around 36 mpg on the hwy, thats pretty darn good. I think if she test drives an S she will love it, just keep in mind they hold there value!! Oh and don't forget 4 year 50,000mi warranty and 3 year 36,000mi maintenance, that stays with the car not the owner.

I like the Mini's. Ok reliability wise. Electric power steering pumps like to take a dump. Also clutch replacement is for the lose. Its like 9 hours book time and you have to basiclly strip the whole front of the car and hang the engine in it.

Don't buy one from the dealer unless you have to have the turbo. Supercharged ones are still fun. Also they sound cool IMO.

Versus what? The point is relative value, not absolute value.

I paid $1k more for the A6 than what the Subie dealer was asking for a '06 Outback XT with the same miles and far less warranty coverage.

Also, the cars couldn't be more different. The Owdy is a Teutonic luv masheen. The Outback is my 07 WRX wagon with a deeper trunk and a slush box only slower.
