bump Bumping up! We still need workers! I know that the cost of fuel may be a factor, so here is one way to save some $$$...Instead of staying at the hotel, you could stay at the Casino's RV Park/Campground. It is just across the parking lot and only 18.95/night. You are also allowed to use the pool and other amenities. We camped in our van last year (2 kids AND the dog); really, it wasn't too bad. The worst part was the kids got up at 7:00, just like normal, not anything to do with camping Please register online at www.rallymasterpro.com/workers If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me: [email protected] or send me a pm You can find more information on the rally at: http://scca-lol.org/rally/shootingstar/ Carrie Carlson Worker Coordinator MRRW
From: Brad Odegard – Event Chair – 2008 MRRW Hello, I have the unfortunate duty to notify you that after reviewing the situation and all of the financial and manpower numbers, the organizing committee has concluded that it can not continue with the 2008 event. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support of our events, both this year and in the past. I see many names on the list from crews that have run every year since we began, and I am personally grateful to you for your continued support. With continued cost increases, both to you as competitors and us as organizers and volunteers, the finances just did not make sense. We had 14 entrants, of which 10 had paid the early entry fee as of the end of day on Monday the 19th. While it is possible that there are still a few checks in the mail, the committee determined that we couldn’t undertake the risks associated with an event that did not meet budget. The break-even point for the weekend was approximately 17.5 entries at the early rate, including the significant sponsorship provided by our friends at Muscatell Auto Group. The competitor entry level was not the only factor weighing on our decision. The early volunteer signup for the event was also very-very slim, leading us to question our ability to deliver a safe and quality event. The volunteers are what really make our event work, and without a satisfactory volunteer base, it is just impossible for us to provide the quality of event that we demand of ourselves. Those of you who paid by check will receive your entry checks back by mail shortly. For those of you who paid by credit card, we will make the appropriate arrangements with Rally America to either have the entry fees refunded directly to your card account, or if this is not possible, we will issue refund checks by mail. In any case, you should expect your entry fees to be refunded within the next 21 days. For those of you who are interested in other events, the Nemadji Trail series of C1 events will be continuing in July with the 2nd of 3 expected 2008 events. If anyone has further questions, or would like to discuss anything in greater detail, I will be happy to do so. Thank you for your willingness to support the MRRW (Shooting Star Rally). Brad Odegard – Event Chair
Mark that is sad news, its unfortunate to have received this this early in the season. Thanks for breaking the news. I know its a huge disappointment to the Rally community.
