Shake n' Bake Baby! Come join us for Member Appreciation Night this Saturday, and then come out to play at the Muddy Waters Road Rally on Sunday! https://sites.google.com/site/mnwisroadrally/march-muddy-waters http://www.facebook.com/events/319936864713135/ This is a great opportunity to spin the dust off your summer wheels and tour some great tarmac roads, followed by shenanigans and food. It is a map rally, not TSD. There is no math or fussy route directions to contend with. Just a basic map and some simple instructions, along with GPS coordinates if you really get out of sorts. Highly recommended for a first time rally. Come check it out, see what you think!
Oh, I always forget to mention... The guys who put these on have been doing this around MN/WI for 40+ years. They know where the fun roads are. It's worth coming out to these just to find those hidden jewels.
Not technically, I don't think. You'll definitely want one though. This is an easy one for the co-driver. Great event for first time codrivers. All they need is basic map reading and light problem solving skills. The most demanding task is some simple process of elimination logic "puzzles". For example, they may leave out a turn, but the next direction only makes sense if you make the correct turn. For example, they will take advantage of color coded roads to say something like, "left at two blue". You might have a three way intersection in front of you. If you go right you never come across another intersection where two of the roads are "blue" according to the map, but if you turn left you do. Therefore you plot the route to the left. It's good if they don't get car sick too.
You should hit up WRC10 and see if he wants to give it a go. He was all over co-driving the last time I asked around.
ZOMGTODAY! My co-driver has to tend to an emergency and won't make it out. If someone wants a seat and can get to prescott by 10:00, let me know.
Just realized REGISTRATION is at 11:00, not first car out. So there's some wiggle room... Also, registration has been moved to the Brickyard Cafe as opposed to Muddy Waters. They're both on the "main drag" in Prescott.
Not a bad day to be on some twisty roads in rural WI! I ended up signing up as a worker. Had a great time, fun little stints to get from checkpoint to checkpoint to setup the control zones. I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet time between setting up the timing control and the first car showing up. Found a potential new favorite road that doesn't require a 3+ hour drive to get to. I will definitely be volunteering to work again. I can think of worse ways to kill an afternoon than alternating between quietly relaxing and hurling a turbo 4-banger through a Bob Ross painting. Don't miss the next one!
