I'm thinking about getting some mudflaps pretty soon but i'm also planning on getting coilovers or shocks/springs next year. Does anyone have experience running mudflaps on a lowered car? i was looking at rallyarmor, but i hear those are super stiff and can break off if you contact the pavement too much. do fastline or prodrive flaps flex enough to avoid this issue?

I have the fastline mudflaps, and i love em. I am also running a pretty hefty drop. i have had no real issues to speak off.

Fastline has a warranty that if you break a flap you can send it in for a replcement. So far the only story i have heard o someone breaing one is backing in to a ice bank in really cold temps. the cranked in half then. but i have never seen anything close to this happen. Several people had the ice race, and no one broke a flap.

the fastlines are pretty rigid, they are much more stiff then you would imagine. but they seem to hold up pretty well. as for how they work with the drop. i would guess i have maybe 1.5" to 2" of clearnance between the flap and the ground. i run the bottom of the flaps on certain bumps, and i also run the edges under hard cornering. they make some rubbing sounds but i havent notiecd anything besides that.

ohh and BTW: having the fastline flap stick out like 1" on the side of the car makes it look wide, especailly when lowered.

    thanks for the info

i'm more concerned about them breaking off at the mounting spots than any actual damage to the flap itself.

how much of a drop do you have? any pics?

I highly oubt they will rip around the mounting spots. at the ice race last year kelly riped one off but it took the bolts with it. they are built tough.

i will look for some pics.

EDIT: heres what i could find on my computer. i will try to get some new shots soon.

from what i read on nasioc, it wasn't the flap ripping around the mounting spots, but where they actuall attached to the car itself. i don't care if i destroy a flap, i'll just get more. i'm more worried about damaging the car itself if that makes any sense?

it does. i am not exactly sure how they mount on the GD chassis, but on the GCs the bolts screw through a little clip that goes over a lip on the inside of teh fender.

so i am not exaclty syre what will happen if they rip out. it might just bend the litle lip which is pretty fimsy or it could pull the bolt out. either way it probably isnt going to do any major structural damage to the car.

yea, it would just be kind of a pain to try and remount them if they tore out violently :eek:hnoes:

i'll probably go with either the fastlines or rallyarmor. the prodrives are just a little too pricey

anyone know how well the blue fastlines match to wrb? time to go do some picture searching

My rallyarmour rubs on occasion, but I live in duluth and the roads are a lot different here. I have never broke one but they are really stiff
