Hope you guys don't mind a little rant and this isn't to say that the Mustang car is retarded. Mainly, it's drivers that are. I have respect for the Mustang as it is a powerful car, but most of the drivers are idiots. Today, I was driving on 35W going North towards 694. I just got done filling up my WRX at the BP in Roseville and was heading home. On the freeway, I passed a black Mustang convertable going about 75 mph. He wasn't driving slow till I passed him and then he pulled up close behind me. From there, he decided to follow and we played a little chase game through moderate traffic at some excessive speeds (I was in the front the entire time). Now, I thought he was just wanting to have a little fun. That is until there was traffic in all 3 lanes up ahead going 65 mph. So, at that point, I thought "Well, play time is over and I'm gonna slow down." As I slowed down, the Mustang was pulled over all the way into the right lane. He then sped up to over 100 mph, almost clipped the car going 65 in front of him as he went into the shoulder, and cut off the 3 cars that were head of the car that he almost clipped. He then continued to cut people off as the traffic in front of me were all going off with their brake lights while he weaved through them.

So umm wtf? I don't encourage stupid things like racing through traffic and this is just one of the few times where I wanted to do it, but the dude was a douche. Does anyone else have these types of experiences with Mustangs? To me, this is the 3rd retarded Mustang driver I've seen with my car.

Not all of them by a long shot. I think the saying is, "One bad apple spoils the bushel." Or something along those lines...

^So maybe his retarded driving rubbed off on the other two idiots driving Mustangs as well? Seriously, I wasn't trying to show up anyone, just driving the other two times and they took it personally too. I haven't had any Hondas, BMWs, RSXs, and VW Golfs try to do anything. Only Mustangs thus far.

I've probably just have had a bad experience with them on the road and I'm pretty sure if I meet the right kind of Mustang enthusiasts it'd be fine. The one's who don't have their heads so far up their ***es that they can't appreciate other cars. I'm really beginning to think a lot of them have ***** issues...

one cobalt ss driver...and hondas. How annoying. I played with a maroon exige the other day on 280/36. Good times. Neither of us drove like complete idiots, but we were going pretty fast. There really wasnt any traffic either. I would hope that anyone who "plays" around with another car, respects traffic and is paying really close attention to everything around them. :)

I'm honest on the Grand Prix Owners. The GTP crowd is probably the largest Domestic Rice group out there. I now frequent their Forums, CLUBGP.com being the main, and they are quite retarded.

You get asshats with any car. I was behind some jackass in a WRX the other day in my Cobra and he was driving like he stole it IN A SCHOOL ZONE around 3pm when the lights were flashing and there were children around. I wanted to go bash the kids ****ing skull in.

a good friend of mine and his older brother both have 5.0 Mustangs. I've gone with them to TCStangs meets a couple times, and let me tell you, they are an exception. couple wonderful guys, in a crowd full of middle aged men with the maturity (and probably testicles) of a 12 year old boy.

of course.....they also autocross those stangs....so I should've guessed that they go against the grain a bit. in fact, all the mustang drivers I know that autocross are great guys. hmmmmmmm

i'm pretty sure that people base their car decisions on other factors than those that are physically apparent, i.e. subconscious decisions. I think that a person's personality has a lot to do with car decisions; its another way to express one's self. That's why people in car groups "typically" get along. Each group has its quirks, seemingly shared personality traits, and mannerisms.

I've been in a few groups of different cars, and most groups are different from another. I honestly like the suby group the best. I'm in the average age group and demographic of most of the other owners.

The Cobra group are all middle-agers that do nothing but bench race and claim how fast they "could" make their cars.

you shoudl see what its like spending time with the old mini cooper group.

Its like visiting my grandparents. They don't talk about how fast their cars could be, they talk abouthow fast their cars used to be, or tiny insignificant detalis of restorations they are currently/once were working on...

unsuprisingly my wife's mini blows them all away in terms of speed. theirs are all too crapped out form decades of not going anywhere.

the only kind of driver i am prejudiced against is a small woman driving an american compact car like it was the last lap of Le Mans. I see young women around here with a marb light in one hand, a coffee cup in another and cutting people off left and right in their dodge neons and chevy cavaliers. I give them a very wide berth.

^Haha yes esperunit, I see them all the time too in their cavaliers and neons. I really don't get it. Are they THAT late all the freaking time to somewhere or what? Geez. My father owns a cavalier and that thing is fun like a go kart, but that's it. It has no means of power in it.

i'm in 6th gear loading it up to ~10psi and letting the ewg go, "HOWAAKA HOWWAKA WOKKA WOWAAKA WOKA"

the driver was like, "SWEET I"M WALKING THE STI!!!"
the passanger was like, "HOLY **** THAT THING IS GOING TO EXPLODE!!"

    ^Gosh you kids...

Not all Stang owners are that bad. You just so happen to run into the select few who are part of the 2F2F crowd.

Even the Audi crowd I hang out with have guys like that. Low and be hold... even with my fellow MNSubie sister and brethren as well ROFL.

Met a somewhat retarded Grand Prix GT driver today on the freeway....I think. Had mudflaps with some ricer rims and it looked pretty stupid. Didn't do much, but the Grand Prix had 4 people and all of them were staring at my WRX (gave a nod to the girl in the car when she looked at me haha hope the driver wasn't her bf). Maybe they were all in awe by being in the presence of the suby haha. What I find funny is when checking the specs for these things, they have 280 hp, but their 0-60 is around 6.6 secs. The WRX is around 5.5 secs

^Weight of the car? Power band of the car? Torque? lots of things comes into play when you compare 0-60 and 1/4 times. Driver skills? FWD launch? etc...

Well, according to an average of 6 magazines, that's where I pull those numbers from. Not saying I would beat them with my driving skills or my particular car. What I'm surprised about is the weight vs it's hp, that's all. I know it'd be slower than the WRX, but didn't figure around a full second. This is all stock btw.

The Grand Prix GTP has 260 hp and 280 tq, the regular GT doesn't.

Try frumm rolling a GTP, you will be quite surprised. WRX's are weak sauce in any race above 45 mph. Not saying that Grand prix's are fast, but the AWD really bogs you on the highway.

^Well, that's expected since the WRX's are rallied tuned. More focus on acceleration over overall speed for those turns. I don't expect a Grand Prix to keep up through hairpins :p Different type of cars.

What i have noticed is that mustang drivers know that Subaru's are powerful cars, and perhaps a "Contender" (More like a dominator). Anyway, they like to challenge them because if the come out on top it makes them feel "cool". But in reality they just look stupid. I have a couple of buddies with tangs and they are pretty humble. But I do have to admit that for some reason we always get into some stupid argument over how much better one's car is than the other.
All and all I think this is another classic battle of foreign VS. domestic. Weather its arguing about who's got the loudest exhaust or speeding around like *******es on the freeway, this will always exist. Weather we like it or not.

^Well said STIofDoom (lol I like the name ). Yes, they do look stupid, but some days, I jush wish they didn't exist or just drove normal. Heck, I would even like them waving in good spirit in acknowledging good cars :)

Ran into a stang on the highway the other day, it was just so funny, the car has this big hood scoop (I dont know why) side skirts with the word mustang printed on the side, and a V6 under the hood. I guess he was trying to impress the girl sitting next to him, but I showed him who's boss.

The new body style is 260/280 but the old body style is 240/280.

They aren't fast cars by a long shot but a few simple mods and a decent driver gets mid 13 second runs... not bad for the size of the car.

I've run in to more idiots driving imports then I have any domestic. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the age of the driver though.
