Last night a huge tree fell on my beloved wrx. (Ylime's former car) I heard the snap, thud and my alarm going off as it happened. It also smashed the roof of my wife's car. Anyone that has experience working on wrecked cars, does it look salvageable at all? Everything works fine but the body damage is pretty intense. I'll probably be in the market for another 02-05 wagon very soon either way and watching the fs threads here. I was really hoping for another 100,000 miles in it, what a sad way to go.
The weather radio just went off (that &^%$ing thing is gonna give me a heart attack one of these days) and we're gonna get hit yet again.
Insurance is deff. totaling that thing out. and why do you have a mitsubishi rack on your subaru? Maybe it was meant to be crushed because it was having an identity crisis.
I have a clean 02 wagon shell with hatch all wrb. (The shell is just a shell that it it nothing but the front and rear wagon glass) id be willing to sell cheap if you want to swap all your stuff over to it. Let me know.
Omg noooo!!!!! I seriously might cry. That is so sad, I'm pretty speechless and to think I was just going to email you that I really liked your new wheel choice.
let me know if you part it out. I'm interested in your window washer rez and some of the tubing for it.
that blows!!! i swa this car a few weeks ago at barbett and i noticed that it still had a "Straitup D" Sticker on the back!
Too soon? lol Jim (and Emily) - I'm really sorry to see that, that sucks. I'm sure that thing will be totaled out and your insurance should cover it. Looks like my wagon roof rails weren't on and must have been salvaged!
oh that really sucks. sorry to hear it. I'd do the buy back and part it, keep what you want, get rid of what you don't. what wheels are those? I kind of like them. I'm looking for some 17's that clear brembo calipers.
btw, since i didn't see anyone mention it, that is going to be totaled, no question. There is a ton of damage there. Besides once the roof gets damaged it's pretty much a done deal for structural reasons.
Yeah the totaled verdict is in, insurance guy was just here and I did alright. My wife's Mazda also has roof damage (a fraction of this) but was barely not totaled. Which kind of sucks cuz she was going to get a Subaru if it was. Straitup D: I bartend at Barbette, so if you see another wrx there in the near future, that's me, stop in and say hi. TMF: The roof rails are safely in the house Emily: Thanks, and it really sucks this happened to your old car!! I will be keeping the Sparcos for my next one 4 sure. As far as parting it out, I'm going to see what I use on my next wrx and then let the circling vultures have at it. It will be a few weeks or so until I'm ready to deal with it, but PM me if you're interested in parts and I will get to them all when the time comes.
The new WRX was just delivered at 10:30pm! Sonic Yellow 03 wagon. Can't wait til morning to start swapping in some stuff from the old one.
Thanks Emily, that's cool you spotted it already. Yeah the black mirrors, I noticed that was odd, now doing a google image search I don't see another with them. Like the way they blend in though.
To anyone interested in the complete motor and whatever is left check out my part out thread. Want part out any interior or exterior stuff and sell the rest still running. http://mnsubaru.com/threads/02-wrb-wrx-wagon-part-out.43715/
