Tash sent me a mesage letting me know that my car was in a picture that was used in the Dsport Mag #120. they did and article about proving grounds. http://dsportmag.com/browse/event-coverage/map-proving-grounds-2012 I know it's just a picture and like no one knows its me but me, but still pretty cool. Just wish I was more inline with the GTR
Nice Work! Looks like a large number of people I know have pics, or their name mentioned in this Issue of DSPORT.
Ive gone every year and have placed near the top in the autox events every year(top 5). I know i have massive room for improvement. Need to go to pro solo school next year.
I'm curious to know how those who participated this year felt after seeing the results. So based on this years results do you think perhaps the Subaru community could benefit from making an extra effort in giving the Mitus's a run for their money at next seasons event?
There weren't many mitsus as there were the year before. Would be nice to see more track/auto x subies
I've seen and worked with some worthy Subbies at BIR that would make this event more interesting. Why they don't participate I wouldn't know. Maybe Subaru drivers are just a little more reserved.
We were still not quite ready for bir this year. Maybe we will track next year, auto x is not for us though lol
Oh I think we both know mt. Fuji would disagree, he was rather successful in RC and AutoX the first season. Surely this will not all faulter down to one man's shoulders lol
By we, i meant our car ( the gf and I) I think the car would track OK with better tires and some more suspension mods, but auto x, we have way too much lag I think
Thank you, I think with the right setup mechanically, virtually and some coaching you'd be surprised how well you'd do.
Oh I know with a few changes it would be great, but for next year we should be ready for drag and track. I don't think I would competitive with any setup in all 3 without major work
Very good, sounds like an agenda. Do you plan on participating in the Street Limited or Unlimited Road Course event sir? I would think the SL would be the much more obtainable and with less expense.
The major plan is for me to be running a different car next year so I really want to push the gf to get better at driving our car now. Wastegate scares her
Well the rules keep changing every year, but this year I think it was still fairly easy to meet. While MAP's objective is to encourage interest and participation with some level of safety in mind, you can expect that next year they'll heighten the safety bar even more seeing as this year was the first time we really gotten a good look at the talent pool in our area. I post this question because for a lot of people this is their one major event of their season and after seeing these results it might help that you get started right away for next season. So now who want's to be famous?
Good friend of mine would have put down some good times on the road course with his 04 STi, but he cracked his manifold after being out 5-6 laps. Should be a number of good Subaru's out next year. I didn't get on the road course since its been 3 years since I was out their. My buddy ran a 1:53.6 with his 08 STI at this years event. Was his first time on a road course, had very little instruction, and was on ****ty all seasons. Should be good to see what he can do with some sticky tires and professional instruction. Figured it was best to wait for a BIR HPDE day and get some actual instruction and learn the course again vs. go out and learn it "wrong". Gotta make me a fast driver before I make the car faster . Got 3(Possibly 4) of us going to BIR on Monday, all with 08+ Subaru's.
AutoX in someone else's 65hp car, sure. Plenty of power to not cause serious injuries and/or death auto x ing
Looks like we've got a playa here! Don't do the SI group, way too many ppl and it's often a bad way to benmark yourself. We'll talk more next time there's a double rainbow in the sky!
