View attachment 20351 http://jalopnik.com/5462681/my-dads-subaru-wagon-can-beat-up-your-dads-everything Looks like i went the wrong direction when i removed the lift from my Outback. Chux, looks like one of your creations. I wonder which motor is in there.
chux and martin took some detailed pics of this thing when we were at sno*drift. They have more details on it than I do - post up guys!
yea, we talked to the guy in Lewiston for a bit. specs: '96 LGT Wagon 6" body lift, 8" at the struts. 31"x10.5" tires big wheel spacers (looked like 1.5" or more) EJ25D block with STi pistons/rods TD04 and associated exhaust/intake parts stock 4.444 4EAT
Did he use the normal non-outback legacy suspension and make extension brackets? It appears the upper bolt of the knuckle is through the lower hole in the strut. Then the plates tie in the bottom and top using 3 bolts instead of two.
they were not the GT struts. IIRC they were standard L struts/springs in the rear, and forester in the front. But yea, those plates are crucial in allowing enough clearance to clear those big tires at the spring perch (otherwise, 29s are about as big as you can go). hot-linked jalopnik pic. might not be any better. if that doesn't work, you'll have to wait until martin gets his up.
Ok here are some pictures. First off pictures of the front passenger side lift. Notice the strut extension and the engine crossmember blocks. View attachment 20354 Here we have the rear lift, again notice the strut extensions and rear diff x-member drop View attachment 20352 These are the blocks to drop the front portion of the rear subframe (potential weak spot) View attachment 20353 Car from the side View attachment 20356 Car from the back View attachment 20355 Sorry forgot to take pics of the trans drop blocks. Also I just noticed they were using flexy pipe for their exhaust.
lol that just screams chux had something to do with it. it was prob built in a driveway with no power tools. sweet lift. that rear must rub if the struts compress at all. i would like to see an impreza that tall, it would bring the lolz
YES! I want a winter beater just like that. I love it. Looks like he added spacers to the driveshaft hanger bearing bracket too.
