Why does my Escort Passport keep going off in 'LASER' when my car is WOT over 5k rpm? it seems its only happening when the car is cold. Like the other day when i dropped a gear to pass somone the LASER when off like crazy! And a few days ago i turned my car on to warm up in the morning and the second the engine started the LASER when off again! WTF is going on? This is the first time this has happend in the 3 years i have owned the radar detector.

3 years you've owned it? I'd start shopping for a new one. I know it doesn't have any moving parts, and that is why I'd be worried. When things start going haywire and there is no moving parts that could cause a change, something could be fried.

My Cobra radar detector did the same thing, it gave a laser alert when I went WOT. I got a V1 now, now more problems.

like i said i have never had this problem, up until a couple of weeks ago. What could be causing it? has to be somthing with the car sending out something.

i used to get false laser on my old setup.
but i went with the belpro laser defense and it works amazingly well.

i'd check to make sure the mount is solid, and also that you have not run the signal wire too close to a coil pack or the alternator..
magnetic fields i'm pretty sure could probobly, i think, maybe definitly chirp off an un-shileded wire.
