Does anyone recognize the Wagon? I've heard it's a fairly well known car. I've had it for a little over a year now, and meant things have changed. This is a picture of when i first brought her home.
welcome to mnsubaru. Well known? what kind of power is it packing? I havent seen this vehicle on the road, but i dont get out much. also depends on what area of the cities you drive in often. im in the NE suburbs enjoy your stay!
I know that car. His name is Jimmy and he's a crazy dude. Drinks too much and gets violent though, thats why he's so well known.
It was in Minneapolis before i bought it, it had exhaust and a 93 tune when i picked it up, it was owned by mitchum. It's currently 275 horse 350 torque to the wheels on e85.
I actually live in Iowa, but we have a Cobb pro tuner that lives in Des Moines that open source tuned it. I just have injectors fuel pump and gauges. Full exhaust and a cold air intake. That is my current summer set up. It also has a front lip now, that isn't in that picture.
It only takes like an hour and a half to get the engine out, but i didn't have the money at the time to build it. Eventually it's going to be a monster sleeper wagon. That is my current plan once i get out of college, should put me around the 500 to the wheels mark.
Dom 4 because stock location dual ball bearing 550 horse capable turbo. And it will not be "fast" it will be quick. I enjoy this car very much, therefore i could not see myself selling it, plus i built an engine for a friend of mine for a bugeye. I know my way around subarus very well, and enjoy the way they drive and sound. I also like the fact that i know it is built right, the only reason my friends car blew up was because it was put together poorly by the previous owner, and was unsorted power.
Already running 1000 injectors and a suitable pump, i may have to jump to 1200 injectors, but rails should feed them fine.
headstuds valvesprings cams? 1000cc injectors probably won't be able to take full advantage of that turbo.
right, + tgv deletes, 3in inlet, the list goes on. My point was that it takes quite a few more mods to realize the full potential of this turbo. Otherwise you might be better off running a smaller turbo. Although there are other schools of thought that say to buy a big turbo for the head room, and gradually increase the supporting mods over time. One other note...if you go over ~500whp, you're getting into the danger zone for the block and may need to get it sleeved or a closed deck. In any case, do a lot of research before spending a single dollar...you'll save money and be happier in the long run
I have a closed deck block on the list, and head studs are a given when you put an engine together, and the 2000 listed for heads should cover that area, and my plan is not to push the turbo to its limits , but go with a somewhat conservative tune to have it be a reliable dd.
It's doable, but is a PITA with a 3" hard inlet pipe and a 3" silicone really isn't an option because they'll collapse. I think you start running into clearance issues with TGV's (among other things) with the 3" hard inlet. Why not just go rotated?
I am planning on being stock appearing, minus the front mount of course. Just preference i guess, you can hide it stock location better than a rotated setup.
Hide from who? You trying to hustle people street racing? Or are you trying to competitively race in a class where you need to be stock appearing? If none of those then stock location isn't worth the PITA and the restrictions of staying in stock location. Also, lol @ reliable conservative stock appearing 500whp DD subaru...those words don't belong in the same sentence.
There is a guy in Des Moines that dd's an 800 horse lgt, it can be done. And i just enjoy the fact that it's a Wagon that looks stock, but is not. It's just what i decided i want to do with my car so that is the plan.
"800 horse" 1. Doubt it 2. He drives like a grandma everywhere and never beats on it 3. He rebuilds the engine ever year or two I wish you the best of luck with your conservative reliable 500whp "sleeper" daily driven subaru when you graduate in 3 years. I plan to DD a quadruple turbocharged V10 smart car in 3 years when pigs fly.
Is this the 800HP LGT you're talking about? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2665313 It ran 11.1 @ 129mph. Draw your own conclusions.
I'm all for people doing whatever they want with their money/car, but I gotta say I'm not sure I quite get your goal here. With the hood closed, no one would be able to tell if you're stock location or rotated, and the fmic will be visible either way. With the hood open, anyone who's looked at more than a couple subies will be able to tell that your stock location setup is built up, so you're not getting much sleeper effect there. If you're going to spend the money on a built block and target 500whp, to me it makes a lot more sense to not buy a whole stock location exhaust/intake/piping setup, when my bet would be that you'd soon enough decide that it's limiting your results unnecessarily and then have to sell it and buy parts to convert to a rotated setup and pay labor for the r&r/retune. The other posters have seen/done this path themselves, so it might be worth considering their experience. But whatever you decide, have fun and enjoy your new car!
There will be no labor costs as i will be doing the build myself, and a re tune is 100 dollars, so that is very affordable. And that post is the 700 horse spec a that is in Des Moines. The one i was referring to is an 800 horse spec b that gets 35 mpg on the highway burning e85. Also has 160k on the stock driveline with ac power steering, dual power heated seats and a sunroof. So how that isn't a daily driver is beyond me.
alright guys, he's new the forum, has formed his own goals, so let's let him fly with what he wants Opinions are just opinions.
It's a destroked Outfront closed deck with a borg warner efr 9180 turbo, and since a turbo doesn't build boost on the highway, you don't need much fuel. You should really do some research. He drove this car 100 miles one way to deliver some parts that my friend purchased from him when we were building his car, so im not sure what makes a car a "daily driver" in your opinion but apparently it is very different from mine. here is the link to his car on facebook, if you click the about tab, it has a list of all the mods that are done to it, i will see if i can do some digging and find the picture of the 35 mpg on the highway, but until then, here is some reading material. His name is Mike Bryant if you want to look him up on Facebook. In fact, i will give you the link to his car, https://www.facebook.com/Okirin234/info?tab=page_info
I might try to make a trip up sometime so @Mitchum can go for a ride in his old car, but it will be a few years before i actually get started on the build, but Thank You.
@xluben has a picture of his old car displaying something like 65mpg but that doesn't make it reality. I need to do some research? haha You can go ahead and keep believing whatever people tell you. Like I said, I have 1200 hp and I get 62mpg while street racing down 35e in rush hour traffic. Look I have proof right here: You are a funny kid.
Here's a photo of my 2011 WRX after driving back from Chicago. 68MPG on E85. 600 WHP. Totally legit. Not a lie at all. Photo proof.
The funny thing is, he actually does get that, he calibrated his display to e85, many people in the club down here have done this, you can believe what you want, but a destroked engine does get significantly better fuel economy, and there are several people getting 30+ out of 11-14 wrx's on 91. The spec B drivetrain has longer gears, allowing for better fuel economy on the highway as well. The tuner down here has a 2011 sti putting down 650 to the wheels on e85 and he averages 24 mpg. Its all about the setup.
My 2011 WRX had the Spec B gearset when I took that photo. Hence the 68MPG. Figured that was obvious.
I heard of this one guy's brother's step daughter's boyfriend's frat bro that gets an average of 39.2685 mpg on E98 with NOS that puts out 850 wheel-ponies when he strokes it down the road going to church on Sunday. He doesn't even have spec b gears, he has a JDM v5 tranny with a 4.44 FD. When you know everything and set it up properly, anything is possible. You gotta do some more research.
