My latest addition to my line of Subarus: another Legacy GT.

    View attachment 22980

Except this time I picked up an 08 Spec B with a bit of work done to it. It has an AVO 450 turbo (with the fuel line upgrades), AVO TMIC and BOV, Cobb UP/DP, Perrin pulleys, STi flywheel, STi drivetrain mounts, ACT clutch, Cobb STS, STi strut bars, Cobb "stage 2" springs and sways, Prodrive PFF7s, and my favorite the Cobb brake kit (front and rear). Right now it's using a conservative tune that dyno'd at 320 lb/ft.

This car and I have some history. This was built up by Cobb to be a show car when they opened shop down here in Plano a couple years ago and I saw this car at the flagship dealership in town as it was awaiting the release of the AP. The ECU had been sent off to Cobb in Utah (presumably to help them test the new AP for the 2008 Spec B) so it wasn't running. I almost had a sales guy sell it to me for $28k before his sales manager shut him down. A year later a friend of mine in the local Legacy club traded his Lotus in for it. The guy trades around cars a lot so I figured it was only a matter of time before he let it go. I finally picked it up last weekend but it's sitting in my garage waiting to be titled and tagged.

If anyone is interested my 2005 LGT Limited is for sale. Only 42k miles on it and it's been in TX most of its life. Looking for $15k and I will deliver to MN.

Nice car. How is that AVO turbo spooling for you? I almost got one for my 08 WRX but went with DB 18G instead.

Very very nice! Pretty awsome that you kept an eye on it and finally was able to grab it after all that time.
Mind if I ask how much it depreciated from the 28k you offered to the price on it now?

The AVO 450 is a pig and doesn't really start spooling up until 3500-4000. I was already considering swapping down to something that spools faster after only a week of driving. I've got a dyno day on the 28th so I'll see how it compares to stock. If at any point it dips below the stock curve (which I'm thinking it will below 4000) I'll probably seriously consider it. However it goes like hell on the highway when its in its element and the 6MT helps to keep it there.

The $28k offer that the dealer was stating was ignorance. The salesman thought it would be marked down due to the modifications and the fact that it wasn't running (he didn't know the ECU was out) so that's the number he gave. The car only had 300 miles or something at the time so it was essentially new. I picked it up for KBB values with 15k miles on it.

Not bad, 3k less then the original quote with a now working ecu. I had to kbb my car while on there too lol. Its still worth more then what I paid for it. :)

I have a date with the dyno this Saturday to look at some charts and determine if I still want to swap out the AVO 450. I went to title it last Friday with the previous owner and he pointed out that the car is tuned to run in S# whenever possible (S is just for warmup and I is for highway economy) so it feels like its getting at least as much torque as my stock LGT at low revs. It's a real kick in the ass when it gets around 4500 though.

I love the heavy ACT clutch; even in traffic coming home from work today it wasn't bad. I used to have the same type clutch and drivetrain mounts in my turbo RS and actually prefer how touchy it can be. It has a Cobb mid with SPT cans to let a little rumble through but I'm surprised how much different the equal length header it has changes the tone of the exhaust. If anything it makes sound a little less "boxer".

Put it up on the dyno at awdtuning yesterday and put down a respectable 310 lb/ft. There are some weird fluctuations in the chart at higher RPMs that could use to be tuned out but it isn't anything noticeable on the road.

Does Justin still poke in here? awdtuning only had a prototype of his new heat shield and I'm wondering if he thinks it'll stop the rattle that comes from engine braking with the Cobb one that's on there now. It is super annoying.
