all ferrets smell, even those with the glands removed do all ferret owners call them their "fuzzies"?
They do have an odor, but a lot of the smell has to do with what food you give them, and how you keep the cage. My litter box gets cleaned every day and the cage gets cleaned once a week. People who have been over have said that you can't smell them until you get right up by the cage.
I took care of 2 ferrets while renting a room once ... I was able to keep the smell away. All animals smell bad though ... even cats and dogs. OUR DOGS especially, right now anyway ... rollin around in the snow and getting all stinky
Do those smelly things sleep all day like my cat or are they playful and curious about everything that moves and makes noise?
They sleep about 16 hours a day. But when they're up they're insane. The love to play. They run around, wrestle with each other, chase me around/I'll chase them around, etc... They need a good few hours out of the cage to romp daily. They're the most curious animal I've ever seen. So much so that you have to "ferret proof" your house. Any hole, or opening that they can sneak into they will. They've got no real fear and that makes me wonder how they ever survived evolution. They also love to stash things. Their name actually comes from the Latin word for thief. They'll steal all sorts of stuff and hide it away in a particular spot that they deem appropriate. A few videos of them playing around...
whats that old movie where that guy has ferrets as pets and he was some kind of swordsman. Man its at the top of my tough oh yeah "Beastmaster"!!! When I was younger that was a reason why I wanted ferrets. LOL
