Something has happened and I can't figure it out. Normally on the sti people get around 260-270 miles per tank right? Well, as of late I've been getting aroung 12mpg IF I'm LUCKY! I went through a whole tank except for maybe an eighth and didn't even reach 200 miles. Driving habits have NOT changed, I may have even tried to consume less fuel. What could have happened and what should I do?
sounds like what's happened to me. I was getting 300 miles a tank, now i'm lucky to hit 200 miles a tank..... wait, there's an explaination for mine.
****, i wish i could hit 260-270 on a tank in my sti, and i drive conservatively for damn near most of the tank. i pull about 225-240 regularly. and 240 is very rare haha this is on a 2006 with 2900 miles
yea, i noticed my STi has some sucky mileage. and another thing, the needle doesn't seem to go to full, just over 3/4's usually. is this a common problem? or maybe i should try a new gas station lol - it's happened the last 2 times i've bought gas (both from the same station)
just went through a quarter of a tank today. 38.5 miles. I usually get around 50-60. WHAT'S GOING ON!!?!?!?!?
YEah in my STi i usually get around 140-180 miles on about 3/4's of a tank. I use 92 and i ulually drive conservitvly, shifting around 2.5-3 . Is that normal or not? I bet exon is having all of their workers take a poo in our gas now just cuz they wanna stick it to us more.
It's very odd that this is happening to everyone at the same time. Did the law for 20% ethanol in MN gas stations go into effect? Either that or Subaru found a way to reset all STi ECUs at the same time.
I know I dont have an STI but I run non oxy gas in my 02 and I will easialy hit 300 every 3/4 tank. And I drive in rush hour every day. I also drive my car in the boost. Co-workers of mine all use non oxy and they say they get better fuel milage to.
non-oxy is out of my way. the inconvenience outways the potential benefit for me in this case. i ran non-oxy once in my 240 - didn't notice any difference really i guess it's time to start using the cruise control more often
Ive noticed the same thing with my car, but with all the stuff done to it I thought that was it. I got 285 miles out of one tank last weekend so I guess thats not too far off.
common. when the auto-shut off happens, try putting more in, but only put the pump handle at the first click/notch/whatever. Doesn't happen a lot, but topping it off slowly like that has worked for me the few times it has.
this may seem stupid but could it be air conditioning? I noticed recently that my WRX gets about 4 MPG better even on the highway without the air
Just thought I would let everyone know that I ran my tank from full to empty and got 300 miles to a tank of non oxy 91. I would say I drive my car somewhat agressivly. Most driving was city and traffic.
I get roughly get 22 - 25mpg on my WRX. Before my first oil change I got around 27mpg. I tend to accelerate quickly and quite often from a stop or when passing/merging, but I cruise aroung 65mph on the free way and that makes a big differnece in gas cunsuption when cummuting every day.
non turbo, 2.2, catless, and a 2.5 dohc computer FTL 230 miles to a tank weak sauce...good thing for both of my cycles.
Heat will kill your MPG and so will using more ethanol. Ethanol kills fuel economy in cars that are not supposed to run it. Drive a flex fuel vehicle once... It's better for the economy they say.... not when your "regular" mpg rating is 20 and when you run the e-85 in the flex fuel garbage car it goes down to 12-14mpg. You guys aren't running Holiday piss water in your cars are you?
hahaha my 04 sti is the same way.. i get like 200-230 a tank BUT i have a solution for my problem.. 1.cobb stage 2 + fun... after that + my foot got heavy after stage 2 = not good mpg
Everyone check your tires pressures. That is the most common mileage killer and is so easy to overlook. I too had a drop in my gas mileage a couple years ago. It improved again once I switched from regular Valvoline to synthetic motor oil. That may have just been a coincidence though.
