I'm a 1/3rd owner of an 8'x16' ice house with a couple other guys. It was built up in Mille Lacs and used as a cabin for hunting trips and stuff like that. We didn't get up there much so it came down here a few years ago. Long story short, it was old and had developed a bit of a moisture problem with some mold. It was decided this year to rip it down to the studs and re-do it along with adding some holes as four was definately not enough. The plan was to not only get rid of the mold but to free up as much room as possible. We need to install the computer fans that push the air around, some LED lights, a few cabinets, the readio and speakers, and some other shelving. Other than the ten holes in the floor, it is pretty much air tight which should greatly increase the ability for it to hold in the heat and keep out the cold. It should hit the ice tomorrow, but here is the project: And here it is mostly finished.
That's pretty cool, nice job. I've never been ice fishing, actually I've never been fishing at all yet I've made 4 fishing video games lol
I actually thought about that. I thought it would be a lot easier and warmer than running outside. In my deer stand, I have a piece of PVC pipe that runs from the stand, down the pole, and into a burried ice cream bucket (with a lid). I drilled holes into the bottom and put a couple inches of sand in the bottom. I thought that it would be disgusting and freeze up.
I think we are going to put in a junky TV in there. The thing that sucks about the whole deal is that such a high percentage of fish houses get broken into so we can't have stuff that is too nice.
No I wish, we got offered the brand about 2 years ago, but we passed on it because of the $ they wanted.
that propane heater looks a bit scary in that enclosed space, be careful. carbon monoxide levels in my 1.5 stall garage reach 120 ppm according to my detector and its the same size as yours.
my brother in law has a directv in his shack. but he works for them so it only cost him 5 bucks a month. lol I am ready when ever you are teddy bear.
sweet looking house. Make sure to keep an eye on the CO levels. I hope that you are lucky and no one breaks into your house. I heard some horror stories over the last few years on Indy about people breaking in and rubbing fecal matter all over the walls.
thats why you have a combo lock wired with a booby trapped setup.... talk fireblaster, electric currents, and an ice cold bath
Still waiting on some coordinates jk. Are you plopping this out on Wac or Tonka...? or somewhere North? We have a LOW trip planned for the 11th, not looking so good right now.
you know what would really tie it all together? a couple homebrew kegs. To bad you don't have any. :deadhorse:
Hi, im Ted, and I have the Cadilac of ice houses.. Look at me look at me!! :eek3: (Back to my corner to scowl at your pure sechzyness of a ice house :yumyum: ) Also, +1 on the Vexlar!
I'm pretty sure we'll be out on Tonka unless my portable fishing yields some fish on Waconia... One of the owners moved onto Tonka this past summer and I'm sure he will want it out on Tonka. It will be nice to have it within sight of his house, though.
Wow, nice setup! I ice-fish alot, but all up north on Lake Placid in Pillager. If you're looking for someone to help get the fish above the ice, just let me know!
We are putting a buddies perm out on Wac this year. He's had it on tonka the past few years, if you do move it out to Wac let me know. We can setup a neighborhood ice house watch I'll be hitting my early ice spot on tonka in the next couple weekends, heading to LOW this Friday (hopefully). Good luck out there and be safe!
I just got a phone call from my buddy who lives on the lake and he said he's got about 3" of ice in front of his house. Apparently he walked out there last night and is heading out there tonight.
well you play nice and we'll see. I will give you a shout when the ice gets thick enough to get it out.. Hopefully that happens sooner than later. Come on 2 weeks of -19.
