So a friend of mine offered me his Jeep and a trailer to move with as I was trying to be a cheap a$$ and avoid paying for a U-haul. Turns out come moving day, it's got a 1200# refrigerator stuck in it and no fork lift to get it out.

So he tells me, "I've got a truck for you, come out with me to White Bear Lake and we'll pick it up from the shop."

So I drive him out to White Bear, and this is what he's got:

Not sure exactaly what year it is, but it's a 1950's Ford pickup with a three-on-the-tree shifter and a huge V8 engine. Notice the completely forgotten about Subie in the background.

Testing the powerless brakes on a road that leads to the lake!

So I get it to Brooklyn Center, and I notice a lot of dripping going on underneath. I thought that would be normal if that thing had an air conditioner. It was leaking coolant big time. It also had no power brakes and I was a little nervous about taking it down the hills of Stillwater, so I ended up getting the U-Haul anyway.

Oh well, it was kinda fun to drive. I damn near launched the WRX first time getting in it after driving that thing. It's amazing how fast your body adjusts to different clutches.

Thanks, I thought you guys would like that.

He's starting a organic foods distribution business and wants to use that thing to make deliveries. I'd love to buy that thing, but it's taken. =(

Good new is I'm all moved in, save a few odds and ends. I've put 18k on my Subie since November, and the gas was killing me. Now I'm 4 blocks away from work. No more commuting for me! The car is going to sit where it is until I do some neglected maintenance on it.

Awesome truck, I can't wait to move closer to work...riding just one bus instead of three to work would be nice.
