It looks awesome! How does it drive?

I suggest you mount that license plate on your front bumper somewhere or else you'll get a ticket. I've gotten one in the past.

was it a 1st gear roll and then let off? or is the car in need of a serious tune?

    no, my car is turbo...:p

but actually from what i've discuss with ryan. it could be a dead boost solenoid. if the car hits 15 psi( which i think is where the boost cuts off), the car completely cuts off like when you hit redline, then when boost drops below 15psi, it'll spool up again to 15 then cut off again. so it just bogs its way to redline.....if we gas it but dont hit 15lbs psi, it'll rev happily to redline. I still dont know what could be the reason for the car just cutting off like this.

its called boost cut, or maybe a ****ty fuel filter either way its not good!...run it off the wastegate and see if it helps, bypass the boost solenoid and just run a line from the wastegate to the nipple on the housing...i think, someone correct me if im wrong...ps your car isnt turbo ;)

i think factory fuel/boost cut on those is around 18lbs. either way it shouldn't be too hard to get straightened out, that boost gage could be off too, there's just alot of variables on a car like that.

well, i did say it was boost cut. :p .....but we'll see on that...it also has this funky chip that allows the car to switch from stock map to tuner map. but thanks for the suggestion. we'll give that a try.

i still say from the way you guys describe stuff, i would put my bet on the ecu, or boost solenoid.

ive seen alot of threads like this on nasioc with swapped ej20s into imprezas, they always ended up with the speed sensor, the car didnt know how fast it was going so it cut boost, does the speedo work?

well it works, i can't say that it's correct or not....come to think of it, i think it's off...when asiandude was following me home...i asked him how fast he was going...he told me he was going 70-75mph...BUT i was leading and set my crusie control to 70mph....he fell behind alot, he said i went to fast...but i was going 70 only.

the owner said it need spark plugs. that should do the trick. the car ran perfect untill he change plugs. it just need it oem plugs back. i think he said i has 2 step colder plug or 1. im not too sure.

    You

    need

    a

    manual

    boost

    controller

i had the same problem. Boost solenoid. Congrats on the car, it probably needs tuning (ej20g's are like that) but it should be fast without tons of headaches. Good to see another 20G entering the fold.

put the ngk's in there? i would also get a mbc very soon as the boost solenoid is a common thing to go too. glad it was an easy fix for you guys

don't worry about it too much if the solenoid goes out you just get a good manual boost controller to solve your problem( you can get a good one for about $100)
