MG had a guy doing that for them 20+ years ago. I believe it was Russ Swift. The guy could pull it off with IIRC a gap of about 1" more than the length of the car he was driving. Pretty impressive. Stuart.

A buddy of mine was also mentioning today that one of the new lexus models can apply a certain percentage of brake power if it detects an object in front of your vehicle that is traveling at a much lower speed, (like a car in rush hour hitting its brakes hard.) I thought that system was the program designed to forsee accidents, which compresses and engages the seatbelts ratchets, engages ESP and ABS, and puts airbags on standby. THAT is pretty slick stuff, however, I do not want my car parking for me, and I sure as hell dont want it braking for me.
