Well, i sold the Cadillac a few weeks ago, because i found the car i wanted over at Minnetonka Morrie's. I just took delivery of a 2005 Garret Red Legacy GT Limited Wagon, and i'm quite happy. A little higher mileage (126k) but it was taken in on trade with a blown motor. Morrie's took the whole power plant out, and swapped in a 70K engine and turbo.. and i had them check and remove the banjo filters before it went in Once I decided it was good to go mechanically, we did the deal, and i had a little bit of body work added to the bill. She's in great shape.. could probably use new carpet as it's stained fairly good in a few places, but I'll wait until spring to do that. While I've been waiting for it come out of the body shop, i went a little internet happy and ordered a few upgrades: an up-pipe, Leptronix line in for the stock HU, and an XM receiver.
I am digging this new legacy wagon trend around here. I don't think I've seen a red one in person yet. Looks secksay.
Have any experience with soldering? Once I do mine I could probably do yours too if you wanna Yank your deck out
nope was going to have someone help me that has done it before, but mine was used so I dont think I need to solder anything.
I liked the versatility of the SRX, in being able to haul a bunch of crap. Had i never had that vehicle, i probably would have settled for a sedan, but between that buying a home, and getting hooked on ****ty sweedish furniture.. it was a ute or a wagon. Add on to the fact that i like to actually drive cars, i wanted something that handled well and would have no troubles merging into traffic. Originally, i wanted to try and land a 530xi actually because well, it's absurdly comfortable and handles great. But when i couldn't land one that wouldn't be a mess in my price range, i turned to trusty subaru and the LGT. There really aren't enough sporty wagon options in america. i really wish they had continued importing the LGT... and i REALLY wish they didn't put the STUPID ROOF RAILS ON THEM. Only part of the whole car styling wise i have an adverse hatred of. the japanese/euro ones look SOOooOOoo much sexier.
Very nice...identical to the car at Morries a couple years ago that I wanted my wife to get, but she wanted the XT, which is just fine. I would have liked the 5EAT in the Legacy more, but it was for her I suppose
thanks dang0 i may hit you up on that if i run into problems. I've always been good with electronics, and i've been feeling pretty confident about my soldering lately.. i actually wanted to do the one that would let you use the "invisible" satellite button but alas, it appears he no longer sells them.
The soldering is really pretty easy. I don't think I even used any solder -- I just heated up the existing solder pad. Similarly, I wanted to use the hidden sat button too, but it would have been took much work for what its worth IMO.
Leptronix and Homelink mirror showed up yesterday... I didn't notice the HomeLink used a different connector for it's power though, so i had to order a harness through the dealership.. oh well. $12 isn't going to kill me. The leptronix kit will have to wait a week or two as i don't have time to tear the dash appart this weekend.. probably next Saturday. heads up to anyone thinking about this upgrade, the harness part number is supposed to be: H501SAG030 i put the order in for that, and i'll be bringing the mirror to the dealership to confirm.
