My co-workers that don't fish think I'm insane. My new LakeMaster 1' Contour maps. And I made transparent GPS grids for locating spots that tickle my fancy...
You can get them from most bait shops. or online here http://www.lakemap.com/ $15.00 each + shipping. Maybe this summer we'll do an MNSubaru Tournament. That would be a lot of fun.
yeah we should deffinetly organize something for this summer maybe on minnetonka I have a scale we can use from my tournament club if this actually goes down (figured I'd get the ball rolling)
rather do pics w/ a ruler and release immediately. my livewell is far too ****ty to keep fish alive over a whole day
fair enough as long as everyone has cameras then we can just do total inches and you are right not needing livewells woulds make a tourny more accesible to everyone.
well june 7th is bass opener and many metro lakes will be very busy. i dont know if you guys wanna make this species spacifec or not? i vote for june 21st or the 28th if that would work for everyone else, and i have a boat. I was thinking like 10 dallars per person maybe to liven things up
I would say just do it by total length (we could have multiplier for different species though since catching 5 4" bluegills isn't quite the same as catching one 20" bass :laugh
What we've done in the past, is had everyone buy a daily paper on the day of the tournament. When you take your pictures, lay the paper down under your golden rule or whatever, so you can prove that the picture was taken the day of the tournament. Not that I don't trust people but if we're fishing for money I think that would help make everyone feel comfortable Also, I would suggest that the tournament be for 4 Bass, 4 Northern and 4 Walleye and 10 pan. For panfish you can just throw a cooler and some 02 pellets into your boat to keep them alive. Killing a couple pan isn't as critical as other species - just due to raw numbers of fish in the lake. Something to keep in midn - organized events with more than 14 boats, "have to" have DNR clearance. I would vote for a weekend about a month after opener. I would like to participate or help organzie, but my fishing league and leisure fishing keep me pretty darn busy around opener.
We could include Muskie, but the date would have to be appropriate. The thing I don't like about my league Musky nights is that althought Muskie arent easy to catch, if you get one, you almost always automatically win - and I like close tournaments... And I don't fish Muskie...
Im right there with gridlocked between club tournaments and trips during the summer im pretty busy. But the way you described running the tourney sounds like a good plan to me then everyone can fish for what they like fishing for. and for the muskies, ive been to tournaments were it is ust included in the northren class
