I have been waiting to get my own car ever since I could drive (in case you couldn't tell by my dumb username)... Well now finally that I have graduated from college and have a job, I finally got my new car. So here it is, my new Saab 9-2x Aero with the cold package and completely stock. I love the car, drives great, body and interior are in great shape. More pics to come! Day 1: -Leave from school in Peoria, IL (Bradley University) to go to Indianapolis to look at/buy the car. -Then drive up the Chicago Suburbs for the night -total drive time: 9 hours (5.5 hours in the saabaru) Pics from picking up the car. My friend with the A3 thankfully drove me to Indy... DAY 2: Drive to Schaumburg, IL for the new tints (20%). I went to a place called Umbra Window Tinting. They did a great job, cost $180 and has a lifetime warranty. After the tints, I made my way up to Minnesota (home). I'll be back in Chicago in a week or two when I start my job! Total drive time: ~7 hours Pics (from HWY 61 by Lake Pepin): Plans for future mods: -RA mudflaps -short throw/knob -springs -AP -turbo-back exhaust ...etc Long term goal: STi swap?!
Unfortunately I am heading by to Chicago next week for work, but I should be back to MN periodically. I hope to make it to some meets when I am home! Some more pics... This road is a blast to drive on...they were putting up road signs though. Maybe a resurface?! After a fresh wash today...Colvill Park in Red Wing (my hometown)
Nice ride! If you ever get rid of the stock rims I might be interested. FYI I'm pretty sure 20% window tint is illegal here in MN... you might get pulled over. Sorry to burst your bubble. Looks sweet though!
Really?? If that's the case, then hell I'm gettin' 20%!! I thought the PT Cruiser was the only vehicle that qualified for this. Don't worry, though, I don't believe everything I read. :hsugh:
Same 5mt tranny. Everything is the same in the 9-2x Aero as an 05 WRX wagon. However, the Saab has more sound deadening material and I believe has certain steering/suspension bits from the STi (the steering rack and some others perhaps). More info here: http://saab92x.com/viewtopic.php?id=23467 uh oh..I just looked up the tint laws for MN, which I didn't do before and I guess only 50% is legal on the front and back windows here. Crap! Any more information on tints being legal on wagons? I thought that SUV's, Vans, etc come stock with 20% tint....?
Yeah, that's what I was working from... but there may be some exceptions. Not sure exactly what they are.
I think I might have seen you at a stop light on Ottowa and highway 7 in st louis park...I was on my Supermotard and I saw the exact same car and I was like WTF is that? Looks sexy. What field of work are you going into?
I am going into outside sales for a company in Chicago...should be fun, but I will be putting on the miles quickly!
oh nice, I am going to be selling mainly telecom systems, computers, back-up systems, etc; basically most things networking/IT related. The company that I work for as a whole sells copiers, document management services, scanning services, etc. Pretty much an all-in-one for office solutions!
from what I have heard is if the cargo area is not seperated from the passanger area from the back doors back can be as dark as you want, the front 2 doors need 50% I believe. I am not a lawyer, nor a cop so i dont know the law perfectly, but thats what I was told which is why I will be doing 5% on the back window 20% on the side windows and 5% brow across the top of the windshield.
Very nice car. I like the Saabaru's. The color is beautiful. NO AUTOMOBILE may have more than 50% on ANY window. None on the windshield. Trucks and vans can be black.
If you went to a shop and had them put on 50% tint, it would still be illegal since windows stock are like 75% or close to that.
Stock don't mean a thing. It goes state by state. In MN no front side windows can be darker then 50% on trucks/vans/SUV's. On cars, NO windows can be darker then 50%.
So, then the shop that did mine at 50% and a trooper pulled me over and said it was 35% doesn't mean anything?
It means either the shop tinted darker then they told you, or the troopers gauge was off. I've probably had more run ins with the law over tint than anyone here. Ticketed in Iowa, pulled over in New Mexico, Oregon,, North Dakota, Minnesota (multiple times) . In Cali, AZ, and a few other states, you can go as dark as you want on what ever you want, Oregon is 35%.
